Eberron Sorcerer

In a world where dragonmarked dynasties dominate the mystical economy, it’s easy to imagine how sorcerous bloodlines can fit into the world, but not every sorcerer has dragon’s blood or some inherited power. What defines the sorcerer is the fact that their magic comes from within, that they must exert their will to coax the powers that lay dormant within them to manifest. There are different ways that this can be expressed within a story, from the traditional sorcerous heir, to a vessel of the Mourning, or the product of Vadalis magebreeding. Morgrave Miscellany, page 69, gives examples of what playing a Sorcerer in Eberron might look like.

In addition to the subclass options presented on dndbeyond, the following Sorcerous Origins are also available:

Alchemical Savant

Whether through an event the befell an ancestor, orexposure to magical potions or treatments in your own life, or a particularly potent dragonmark, your body is infused with the transmutative power of alchemy. This spark of alchemical magic within within you persists as a lightning-like energy that grants you magical powers. While other alchemists and wizards strive to create the transformative talismans called transmuter's stones, you are a living transmuter's stone.

Enlightened Soul

You were touched by the cleansing light of Dol Arrah and were granted magic that you can use to fight evil and bring light to the dark places of the world. Most often, sorcerers granted this blessing from Dol Arrah were part of a ritual that called upon the goddess to bestow the person with innate sorcerous powers.

Flameborm

Your innate magic comes from the Plane of Fernia, the Sea of Fire. Perhaps you've been exposed to overwhelming energies or a powerful elemental granted you these powers. Perhaps you were simply born there. Either way your connection grants you a special affinity and control of fire magic. Your flames burn hotter and brighter than any other, and highly skilled sorcerers are even capable of shaping any magical energy into scorching flames.

Nightmare (Kalashtar Only)

All Kalashtar and Inspired are tied to the power of dreams and the realm of Dal Quor, and Quori Nightmares are no exception. Nightmares use Dal Quor as a bridge, reaching into minds and extracting the darkest thoughts and desires as weapons. Fearless? A Nightmare knows there’s no such thing.

Progenitor Spark

Some sorcerers’ power flows from the primordial, cosmic beings who created the multiverse, and in the Eberron setting, these three progenitor dragons are Eberron, Khyber, and Siberys. While the blood of dragons flows in your veins, you don’t have scales or manifest wings, but you hold a tiny piece of a spark that can shape reality, instead. On the surface, your spells allow you to fling fire, conjure illusions, and other common magic others might acquire, but you also have the power to create life, drawing dust and dirt together to form the living.

The progenitor Eberron is seen as the source of all natural life and the defender of all that the three created. Khyber sought dominion over the aberrations and fiends she created, while Siberys produced the celestials in all their beauty and splendor. You might feel a connection to one of the three or you might be purely interested in the potential of creation, unburdened by concepts of good or evil.

Soultaker

Servants of the Keeper often call him ‘the Guardian of Gates,’ and believe that he is chiefly responsible for whether a soul reaches the paradise they believe in or the grim unending of Dolurrh. If the god-fearing are given paradise, and the heretics are bound for the punishment of Dolurrh, why shouldn’t the Keeper ensnare a few damned souls for his own purposes? For that matter, why shouldn’t the Keeper’s servants?

By rite and ritual, servants of the Keeper enjoy capturing souls to do their bidding. Some are said to have a natural affinity, and by ritual the energies of souls consumed have a lasting effect; arcane empowerment.
