Built directly over the stream from the Falls of Maharesh, the Great Palace is a glorious construction, made up of two major wings that flanked the stream, with a wide hall that contained the Essential engines within it.

The hall itself is lit by pipes of clearest glass, in which water flows. All water that enters the Great Palace is given a slightly silvery luminescence, so that the entire structure is constantly lit by flowing, refracting water. Any of these pipes could be rendered immaterial to everything but water, allowing people to reach their hands through the pipes and even submerge their faces for a drink.

The manse itself contains only a few rooms - the northern wing contains several fair-sized living quarters, a communal room, kitchens and dining area, while the southern wing possesses a variety of offices, large meeting rooms and a single grand assembly hall.

The Hearthstone Chamber is a level below the Essential engine room, accessed by a staircase of the clear, water-filled glass. The room itself is also made up entirely of the glass and is set beneath the waters of the stream. This room can be used as an escape method, dropping through the glass, by an act of will.

The Essence of the Great Palace of the Eternal Cistern goes towards pumping water from the Eternal Cistern to the Obelisks in the city, giving the buildings of the city running water.
