Headquarters

The Society Hall, located in the Accord.

Benefits of Membership

  • Social connections. The Society plays an invisible but major role in Liminal's society, providing its masters with dependable, trusted adventurers who can do thing that need doing. The nations allied to Liminal know that they can come to the Accord and find help for very nearly anything that bothers them.
  • Training. The combined lore and experience of the Society's membership is unheard of outside of very major, very old organizations, and they do so without the baggage that comes with such organizations. They can train all manner of rare tricks and skills that would be nearly impossible to find elsewhere.
  • Ritual Lore. They have a broader ritual knowledge than any other organization in Liminal, including the Keepers of the Accord, as their knowledge spans arcane, religious, and natural magics, as well as a handful of other bits of lore. And they can arrange to offer their training for one-half of what other mentors might offer. Part of that is, of course, an agreement that they must likewise make their ritual knowledge available, and to train other Society members for half that amount.
  • Accomodations. Each member company of the Society is given a floor on one of the wings of Society Hall. Each such floor is divided into a number of suites clustered around two to four fair-sized common rooms. These common rooms are turned into entertaining salons, private libraries, war rooms and other such purposes by the individual companies.

Membership

  • Joining: Joining the Society is by invitation, and comes with a fee of 100 gold piece per member of the company joining. If the company adds new members that wish to be part of the Society, they must pay that same fee.
  • Dues: Dues to the Society are 25gp per member annually.

Current Members

  • The Company of the Rose & Thorn. A company of adventurers that were brought together in Liminal through circumstance and chose to continue operating as a team. They claim Liminal as their main point of operations. Six members.
  • The Company of the Dragon. The descendants of the original Company of the Dragon (though not always blood-descendants - they are the apprentices of apprentices, etc). They claim Liminal as their main point of operations. 18 members (12 active, 3 retired, 3 apprentices)
  • The Champions of the Storm. The foremost adventuring company in the Empire of the Nine, they were first brought together fighting the strange creatures that blew in with a storm from the sea. Two of its number were recently given guardianship over land and keeps in the Empire. 8 members.
  • The Skull & Banner. Wanderers and mercenaries, who operate a mercenary company by the same name, led by the adventurers. Currently serving a commission with the nation of Tamous in its expansion. 5 members.
  • Maldewyn's Own. A company gathered by the ancient seer Maldweyn, a blind, silver dragon, to address some of the prophecies it saw. 5 members.
  • The Chosen. Though they have disappeared, they are noted as having paid five years worth of dues in advance. They still have another year before they are declared a retired company. 7 members.
  • There also seems to be a roster of individuals who are also part of the Society: solitary or paired adventurers who either do not belong to formal named groups, or who belong to groups that do not as a whole wish to join the Society. There are perhaps another 13 or so such members.
