He almost always wears a a pair of goggles he designed that have a multitude of functions and lenses for a variety of working & mundane needs. On his belt he also carries a small tin filled with cigarettes and a canteen full of over brewed caf. Ygo has spiked the fur on the middle of his head into a fauxhawk, which he has died vivid blue. He has three large steel hoops in each of his ears, one through his septum & two hoops in his left eyebrow. When out & about, he typically wears a backpack filled with whatever tools and parts he needs for a job that do not fit in his numerous pockets. He almost always has a cigarette in his mouth and a cup of strong caf within arms reach.

Background

A forgotten life.

There really was not much for Ygo to have forgotten about his life amongst his people. He had many, many sisters & no brothers. His father was a great warrior of the Yeega tribe and his mother a shaman and the last member of the defeated Tebek tribe. His mother had been labeled a witch and exiled from the village for reasons unknown to him and she took her youngest, Ygo, with her into exile. This infuriated his father, that she would have fled with his one & only male heir & so he hunted her.

So the earliest years of Ygo’s life was with his mother, living on the move, always hiding from the search of his very persistent father. Ygo’s mother was unconventional in her methods. She taught him to think outside the box, to be inventive & creative in his solutions to a problem.

But then the strangers came. They fell from the sky. They were tall, strange & possessed what seemed great magics. But there was no magic. Ygo’s mother possessed true magic. This was not the same. These were…tools. Devices that could emulate magics.

Ygo was mystified by the strangers. He & his mother had avoided their notices thus far, but he wanted a better look at these marvelous things and the ship that came from the sky. So…he crept closer.

Slipping one of the devices from the pack of one of the strangers he brought it back to the cave he & his mother had been inhabiting and marveled at strange object. He need to know what it did. How it worked. He’d never hungered for anything so much in his life.

So he cracked it open, as gently as he could with a rock. But he was not gentle enough, for its inner light and the subtle warmth of the tool had died. He continued to dissect the device, wondering how all these little bits of metal, glass and other components he could only wonder at made the tool work. He wanted to know how.

He needed to.

It was late. His mother had not returned from gathering herbs & he was growing worried.

Ygo did not have to seek her for very long. He found his fathers camp not too far from their cave, he could hear his angry voice almost as soon as he had left the entrance. He was there, amidst seven of his men, yelling as his mother who was bound in ropes. She looked hurt & she wept. His father was demanding to know what she had done with his son. But she would not speak. His father struck her.

Rage filled Ygo. But he was not so foolish to go stomping into the camp. He knew he would only be captured and could not help his mother.

But the strangers from the sky, with their wonderful devices could help him. Surely they would.

So Ygo made haste to the place where they were. He had observed them long enough to know that they spoke a language different from his, so he would not be able to communicate directly. He was in a rush, he needed them to be in a rush as well & hope that things would make sense afterward when they had more time to attempt communication.

Ygo rushed into the strangers camp calling out for their attention. Most of them spun around in shock & amazement at this small furry creature yipping at them. They had pulled & aimed more devices at him. Weapons. Good. They would need them. But how to get them to follow him?

Ygo scanned their camp next to their sky ship. There were metal crates scattered about that they had been moving things between. A nearby crate was open. Its cushioned interior had intentions in it, each holding a device similar to the one he had stolen to study. He snatched one of these and ran into the forest. The raised voices and clamoring that followed him validated his plan. They were following.

Ygo led them into his fathers camp & bolted straight through to his mother. His father & his men were astounded. His father commanded him to get away from the witch when the strangers arrived.

For a moment that seemed to last forever the two sides stared at each other. In amazement. In confusion.

Then his fathers men attacked them. Calling out battle cries against the demons summoned by the witch, his mother.

It was a very short battle. Ygo could not have imagined the power of these strangers and their weapons. Bright lights flared from the devices as what could only be described as pieces of lightning shot through the air. Within seconds, his father & all of his men were lying on the ground. Ygo quickly tried to untie his mother, but before he had finished one of the strangers had stepped over to them and kicked him aside from her. Ygo tried to run back to his mother’s side, but the stranger struck him hard with the device and the world went dark.

And that was the last he would ever see of his home or his people.

Ygo awoke to find himself in a place beyond imagination. He was unharmed, but was wearing a strange metal collar he was unable to remove. One of the strangers was in the room eating at a table. Ygo’s mother was nowhere to be seen. He rushed up to the stranger asking desperately where his mother was. The stranger touched a necklace he wore and suddenly pain unlike anything Ygo had ever known riddled his entire body from the collar. He fell to the floor numb and twitching. His thoughts clouded, he couldn’t even think properly. Mother…where….

So this had become Ygo’s life. Smarter than most it did not take him very long to learn the language of the strangers and his new lot in life.

Ygo was the pet of the esteemed fondorian (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fondorian) smuggler, Kado Hassett, who specialized in security technologies and hacks. Ygo’s new world was Kado’s ship, the Prowling Mouse, and its crew of six. None were kind to him. He was a joke. Kado’s funny pet. Anytime Ygo would do anything to displease Kado, which included speaking, he would be punished via the collar. Ygo had figured out early on that Kado, a vain & arrogant man, underestimated his intelligence, thinking him nothing more than a semi-intelligent animal. So Ygo played this up in order to retain what freedoms he had and so that his activities would go unnoticed.

He was learning. Learning their language. Learning their ways & methods & most importantly their technology. He would steal items from around the ship and study them & their operations & once he knew how to use them, then he would disassemble them to understand how the worked.

In time he had perfected the ability to take a device, study it, figure out how to use it, then dismantle it to study how it worked, then put it back together & return it without anyone ever knowing what had happened. He would get hold of datapads and read their entire contents.

So he spent years of imprisonment learning & waiting.

Kado awoke one morning to find an odd weight on his throat. He sat upright and looked around. All was as it should be. Almost. Ygo was not sleeping on his mat as he normally was. Instead he was sitting in a chair near Kado’s bed. Kado stood immediately, anger & confusion clear on his face. He took one step towards Ygo and realized what had happened. Ygo touched the small necklace at his neck, the necklace Kado normally wore. And the collar that Ygo normally wore seized Kado’s body in a grip of agony.

Ygo had long ago figured out how the collar worked. He had just needed to get the remote device from Kado.

Kado croaked and mustered enough will to yell for help. Ygo had predicted this would happen. He pressed a button on the datapad in his lap. There was a thunderous noise from elsewhere in the ship and the room shook as a crate of rewired blaster riffles courtesy of Ygo detonated in the armory. The ship’s alarms began to sound.

Kado was in shock. The suicidal creature would kill them all by destroying the ship in the dead of space. But Ygo had been preparing for this morning for a long time. The crew would be in a panic. Some would surely seek their captain while others would go to fight the fire resulting from the explosion. But the door to this room would not open. Ygo had seen to that. He needed some privacy with his good masters.

The pilot would run to the cockpit and be perplexed to find the ship safely docked somewhere. And he would look in horror at the last outgoing transmission conveniently left onscreen. The authorities had been notified of the cargo, where it was hidden, the captain & crew’s identities and given all the security and access codes for the ship as well as a detailed manifest of the ship’s history & business deals – enough information to see that Kado & his men would be safer in prison than free, where their revealed employers would see that not only did they never work again, but that they also ceased to breathe. He looked in dismay outside the cockpit window to see enforcement already surrounding the ship.

Amidst the chaos outside, no one hear Kado’s screams. No one heard the one simple question asked time & time again between the screams.

“Where is my mother?”

Kado did not know. The female and the three surviving male creatures they had captured with him were sold days after Ygo had been taken from his world. He sold them to a merchant on Gall. He could not remember the name. It was an unofficial transaction as they had been an unexpected commodity he’d picked up. The sale was not recorded in the manifest. Ygo knew this, he’d nearly memorized them in an attempt to find out where his mother had gone.

That was all that Kado knew. His mother, and others? Was his father one of them? Sold to a nameless merchant on Gall.

They would be anywhere in the galaxy. He would never find them again. Nor did he know where he had come from. The ship had made an emergency shop on a small moon somewhere for repairs. It was not an official stop & thus not recorded.

Anger. Rage. Hatred.

Ygo wanted to kill Kado. Wanted him to suffer. His morality given to him by his mother struggled within him. Ygo knew that a far better punishment awaited Kado with the enforcers now beating at the chamber doors. Their access codes for the ship did not override this one door. He would be imprisoned and if he were ever to find himself free, he would be hunted.

But…Ygo wanted to watch him die. Could he go on with his own life knowing that Kado stll lived, miserable or not.

Ygo pressed the remote. Watched Kado struggle & twitch. Increased the power, a new function he’d given the collar, and pressed it again. Kado screamed. He flung about on the floor like a mad animal.

Again. Kado wept. Then he laughed. He could not longer make words to beg Ygo to stop.

Again. Hatred welled up in him.

Again.

Again.

Again. Kado was no longer screaming. Instead his screams had been replaced by a sad, quiet whimper. He drooled. But there was still light in his eyes. He was still alive. His mind had not been destroyed yet. Just another time or two and Kado would be no more. He would be dead, or at least his mind would be destroyed. Just one more time… The press of a button. Vengeance would be his & justice would have been served.

Ygo sighed. He dropped the remote and crushed it with his heel.

He then went & entered the code to open the door. Enforcers stormed in & seized him & Kado.

They were processed and Ygo was able to identify himself as the one who had landed the ship, transmitted the information & turned the smuggler gang in. He received a hefty reward for their capture and was set loose in the galaxy. He was free. But he was very lost.

Ygo invested his money in schooling and received a broad education in technology. He graduated head of his class & proceeded to get a job as a ship mechanic for the Clascvorian government, where he had become a citizen during school. He also performed freelance work as a tech specialist, most often repairing data devices, performing droid upgrades or beefing up security systems.

Some people would get up enough nerve to ask Ygo what species he was, having never seen another of his kind before. He would tell them the simple truth. He is an ewok. Taken away from his people when he was very young and with no way of knowing how to get back to their world, because he does not know what world it is. Ygo would never forget his old home, though in time, he would accept Clascvoria as his home. And what would he do really if he were to find out where he came from? Go back to his primitive kin? It’s hard to work on a datapad with a rock & a stick. He found that out the first time he ever got his hands on one. Sure, he could invite them into the greater galaxy beyond their tiny world. But more than likely he’d just be stoned or burned as a witch or demon or such. It’s where he was born, but it was no longer his home.

Sometimes he would wonder about his mother & other kinsmen who had been taken. Were they alive? Were they well? What were they doing? He imagined his mother had found kindness and was living free in this galaxy full of marvels. Her magical powers, he assumed to be the same as what others called the Force, would open many doors of opportunity for her. He hoped that she was living a fantastic life. It’s what she deserved.

Ygo is somewhat impatient with people, though just the opposite with machines. He loves droids and believes that droids have souls and are often more alive than people are. Technology & computers are his greatest vice, though he has had others. He just can’t help but peek inside when he finds something new. Even if it does happen to be a shiny new security panel on a military building that landed him six months in prison, two months in drug rehab and fees that annihilated his entire rather impressive savings…so much for starting his own garage & lost his cushy, well paying government job. :(

He’s just lucky the officer who caught him knew him from his work & didn’t just shoot him on the spot upon finding him with the panel wide open and parts lying around. Ygo is a recovering booster blue spice addict since his imprisonment and has since turned his attention to very strong caf and chain smoking. He works for a small dirty garage that specializes in repairing small ship warp drives. He still does freelance work, though his stained reputation has led to that being less lucrative than it had been before. He’d been approached by criminal elements promising him wealth for the use of his skills, but he always politely declines, not wishing to become involved in something that he may never be able to escape from.
