I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see those bad times today.
Don't go around tonight,
Well it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
Bad Moon Rising

There's something new in Astoria, and it sounds an awful lot like hope. Two years ago, a bunch of the older families of Astoria moved away all unexpectedly, leaving the town of Astoria somewhat in the lurch. Without their considerable financial resources devoted to keeping the small town running, it was in trouble as a former cannery town and second-rate tourist trap.

But shortly afterwards, the news began to spread: Clatsop Community College was being accredited as a full undergrad university, the University of Astoria. Its architects and the city's planners have worked closely together to make it immediately relevant, focusing on social justice issues, sustainable technology and renewable energy. Sponsors have popped up out of the woodwork to help upgrade the facilities and prepare for the upgrade, and in the last two years, more and more out-of-town students have begun attending, drawn in by lucrative scholarships and an incredible faculty.

Now it looks like Astoria has a future as a college town, and already the community is feeling the lightening of the weight of obsolescence. But there is a moon rising in the distance, and the wind carries the scent of fear and fury.

University of Astoria Campus

  • ATO Fraternity House: Signature Setting. One of the Greek Row Houses on campus.
  • Queer Resource Center: Signature Setting. The room in the Student Center dedicated to the University's Gay/Straight Alliance, and as a general resource center for LGBTQ students.
  • Athletic Center: Two story building with institutional glass windows. The first floor weight room is where "crazy bloody vandalism" happened.
  • Bonfire Clearing: A clearing Warner found and set up with a large fire pit in the university-owned woodlands east of campus.

City Center

  • Wet Dog Cafe: Signature Setting. A brew-pub known for its beers and burgers.
  • The Crossroads: Signature Setting. Nightclub and bar; a favorite gathering place for university students.
  • Warner's Loft: Signature Setting. The loft of Warner Pelt, located above the Dollhouse hair salon.
  • Kaffe: Signature Setting. The small coffee shop closest to the University and open twenty-four hours (a rarity in Astoria).
  • Drina Daisy: A little known Bosnian Restraunt tucked between the eclectic commercial street shops. Volf took Stella on a date here.
  • Blue Ocean Thai: "That Thai place Elaine likes"
  • Elaine's House: The newly-purchased home of Dr. Elaine Litchfield.
