Status •: Entered Apprentice

After a ritual of initiation, during which the new mason swears to uphold the tenets of his lodge, to aid his fellow masons, and to keep secret the rites of the lodge. In return, he is given the passwords and handshakes of his degree. The entered apprentice is expected to throw himself into the three facets of masonic life: charity, history, and ritual.

  • Benefit: The entered apprentice mason gains excellent focus, thanks to all the tasks he is expected to help with. He gains the Good Time Management (•) Merit.

Status ••: Fellowcraft

Elevated to fellowcraft, with the attendant rites and revelations of secrets, passwords, and handshakes, the mason usually focuses on projects within the lodge that interest him, although he builds amity by assisting where it is needful, of course.

  • Benefit: The fellowcraft mason has learned the necessity of careful deliberation, gaining the Patient (•) Merit.

Status •••: Master Mason

Master masons are accorded regard as "full masons" and are expected to give and receive aid from the temple where they may.

  • Benefit: The master mason can call upon his lodge and other masons the world over, gaining the Allies: Masons (••) Merit. Many masons increase this rating even further with experience points.

Status ••••: Installed Master

In addition to the regard of Master Masonry, you have demonstrated your fitness to serve your lodge with one of the titles. These are the Master (a chairman), two Wardens (seconds in command), a secretary, a treasurer, and a Tyler (the "outer guard" who remains outside the door of a working lodge).

  • Benefit: The installed master mason usually has had the aid of his lodge's best and brightest in setting his house in order, granting him a Resources (•••). This does not raise a Resources rating above 3, but can refund up to three experiences in characters that already have Resources when receiving this level.

Status •••••: Lodge Mason

A master may finally receive the acclaim and regard to petition for membership in one of the attendant order, bodies, or lodges attached to the Grand Lodge of masonry.

  • Benefit: You gain Status • in another masonic lodge or rite, which opens the way to an entire subgrouping. Additionally, the lodge mason has dealt with the ins and outs of social flow for a long time, gaining the Iron Will (••) Merit.
