Movies

  • Ronin - This is one of my all time favorites, and one of my primary inspirations for Shadowrun. While the movie has none of the Cyberpunk or Fantasy elements that Make Shadowrun what it is, everything else is dead on. It is a good example of how a Shadowrun Team works together, showcasing the roles of Face, Muscle, Rigger and Hacker. It also demonstrates what a run is like starting with the first meet with a Johnson.
  • Johnny Mnemonic - Despite the fact that Keanu Reeves acting is somewhat stiff in this movie, there is lots of good stuff here. It very much shows off the Cyberpunk setting that Shadowrun is based on.

TV Shows

  • Leverage - This is basically a show about a bunch of Shadowrunners who decide to do good.
  • Firefly - For all that it is a Sci Fi Western, Firefly also captures the themes of Shadowrun perfectly. In particular the episode Ariel is an almost perfect example of a Shadowrun.

Books

There are a bunch of Shadowrun Novels out there but here are a few of the best.

  • Never Deal with a Dragon by Robert N. Charrette
  • Choose Your Enemies Carefully by Robert N. Charrette
  • Find Your Own Truth by Robert N. Charrette
  • 2XS by Nigel Findley
  • Crossroads by Stephen Kenson

Video Games

  • Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Probably the best Shadowrun Vide Game to date.
  • This War of Mine - A survival game set in a city in the midst of a Civil War. Not directly related to Shadowrun, but an incredible game. It is also one of the best examples I know of what living in the Barrens might be like.
