  • beldarakin: treacherous beings, ones who are treacherous
  • burakrin: way through, passage

  • calass: thief, miscreant, untrustworthy one
  • caurak: cavern (large size, subterranean only)
  • corl: to kill
  • corlar: killer

  • daern: familiar, known (place, feature or being)
  • darrown: noble, superb, very dwarf-like and praiseworthy
  • dauble: (pl. daubles) treasure or valuable
  • deladar: to descend, to go down
  • deladauragh: to die in battle; literally "to go down to the death"
  • delvar: to dig; hence, "delve" means a digging, mine, tunnel or underhome
  • donnar: metal ore
  • dun: underground; often a prefix
  • dunglor: underground lake
  • dunlur: underground river

  • endar: cave, surface world, one not connected to extensive underways

  • færn: home, lit. "vault where gold resides; treasury"
  • findar: good luck, good fortune, favorable chances
  • fhostuuf: the good heat at the heart of a forge or hearth; "useful" fire, tamed for the good of dwarvenkind

  • galakkur: messy, untidy, or sloppy; named for a folkloric figure named Galakkur who always did things by halves, with bad outcomes because of it
  • gelyr: ghosts, or ancestors not one's own (one's own ancestors are aegelyr, or "golden ancestors")
  • glander: gems, including uncut natural stones
  • glor: lake
  • gordul: "Gods, forfend!", or "Gods, look at this!"; an oath of amazement or despair

  • halaur: gift
  • hurnden: payment

  • ilith: deal, agreement, trust of one's word or honor

  • jargh: jokester, idiot; a colloquial insulting name for halflings

  • kuld: axe
  • kuldjargh: a berserker, or one who is reckless in any battle (literally, "axe-idiot")
  • kuldar: warrior; literally, "axe cutter"

  • levasst: passage linking surface and underground
  • lhar: gap, (mountain) pass
  • lin: work or craftsmanship (usually a suffix)
  • llargh: loose stone, bad work or unsafe
  • lur: river, creek, stream
  • llur: large (wide) river
  • lurgh: marsh, fen
  • lurmurk: bog, muskeg (concealed waters)

M

  • mardarl: a thing which is hidden or concealed
  • morndin: peak, height (especially of mountains, but sometimes also used to speak of high ledges, ranks of individuals or tall creatures)
  • mrin: to climb; "mrinding" is "climbing"
  • mur: to disagree
  • murmel: argue, debate
  • murmelings: arguments, criticism, words of dissention

  • norogh: monsters, evil or dangerous beings or forces (especially unknown or unidentified)
  • noror: enemies (known)
  • noroth: enemy land, area or lair; pl. "norothin"

O

  • ogurkh: something phenomenally stupid, insane, or dunderheaded
  • ol: magic, magical power or items
  • olara: natural magic, not shaped or used by beings
  • olor: the world; all the lands, the entire territory of Toril seen by, and known to, dwarvenkind

P

  • parlyn: clothing, especially unusual or unexpected (proper or fitting) adornment
  • paerth: an exclamation, meaning "fat chance" or "not likely"

R

  • raugh: death, an ending, "it's over" (especially regarding feuds and love affairs)
  • rrin: over, above
  • rorn: destruction, devastation, war
  • rorntyn: battlefield
  • rune: familiar, known
  • runedar: home, familiar place, haven

S

  • sabrak: crack, flaw
  • samman: trusted friend, brother
  • samryn: trustworthy, honest, honorable or favorable
  • sargh: disgusting thing or occurrence, filth; orcs or orc-work
  • sargathuld: "orc bane"; a name for a sword, as well, Sargathuld
  • sonn: good stone
  • splendarr: bright, shining, beautiful, hopeful
  • sprendle: a trick, prank, or deliberate misdirection, especially if lighthearted or intended to avoid a confrontation
  • steyr: solid foundations; the root of mountains; also used to mean "a good beginning" or "strong heritage/origins".

  • taerin: love; true or "deep' love
  • tarunter: anything that seems fussy or pretentious. This is never applied to religious topics, no matter how silly or overblown they might seem.
  • thalorn: kindness, caring, good deed
  • tharn: love, lust
  • thord: bone; plural "thorden"
  • thork: death, excrement, decay, carrion
  • thuldul: fate, doom, ill luck or (spoken in irony) every cheery tidings or good fortune
  • tindul: clumsiness or clumsy work (esp. smithcraft)
  • tor: hill, knoll; especially if bare rock in places, smaller than mountain or crag
  • torst: adventure, fun, welcome danger
  • tyn: field, open place (above ground)

  • ultok: meeting-place, coming together, rendezvous
  • ultokrinlur: ford; literally, "meeting place over river"
  • undivver: hope, future plan, strategy
  • urduun: great wind, originally referred to for great gusts of air through tunnels, but refers to any strong winds.

  • vallahir: mountain-meadow (high valley, especially a "hanging valley" or alpine plateau
  • vellamorn: treasure, valuables, hidden wealth
  • veltel: romance, courtship, social games and manners
  • vhul: snow or ice
  • vhulyntyr: winter, referring to any single great plane or location filled with snow and ice, whether a frozen lake, a frozen-over mountain pass, or even a snow-filled grey sky.
  • vivrik: hunted
  • vudd: wood, forest
  • vruden: wood; "vrudenla" is "wooden"

  • wurgym: ugliness; ugly thing or being
  • wurlur: current, racing water (danger)
  • wurn: water (especially useful or drinking water)

X

  • xoth: knowledge (especially dwarf-lore and secret or special knowledge)
  • xunder: secrets, dark deeds or treasure-talk

Y

  • yaugh: a climb
  • yaughadar: stairs or steps
  • yauthmair: rope
  • yauthtil: elevator or pulley-based riser; "olyauthtil" if magical

Z

  • zander: adventurer, rogue, foolish youth, happy-go-lucky or reckless being
