Rank • Spirit Rites

Banish (•)

This rite invokes the ritemaster's authority as guardian between the two worlds, casting intruders out from realms to which they do not belong.

  • Symbols: Warning, the two worlds, exile or refusal, the Wolf’s last howl
  • Action: Extended (target = 10; 1 roll per minute); spirits may contest with their Resistance
  • Success: This rite banishes a targeted spirit from the physical world into the corresponding point in the Shadow. If targeting a creature in the Shadow that is not a spirit or a werewolf, the target is expelled into the corresponding point in the material world. The banishment is immediate unless there are any unusual characteristics present in the Gauntlet.

Center (•)

This rite permits the ritualist to center her spirit, shrugging aside all worldly concerns to focus on things of a spiritual nature. It is commonly performed before ritual work of any sort.

  • Symbols: Chants, hand gestures, delineation of self
  • Action: Extended (target = 5; 1 roll per minute)
  • Success: This rite grants the ritualist a +1 equipment bonus to a number of ritual rolls equal to her Resolve, as well as a point of Willpower upon its completion. These benefits may be gained only once per scene, and the equipment bonus must be used in that same scene.

Consecrate Space (•)

This rite purifies and blesses a space for the work of the ritualist ahead.

  • Symbols: Delineation of space, purification, blessing
  • Action: Extended (target = 5; 1 roll per minute)
  • Success: This rite imbues a location with a sympathy with a ritual about to be performed in that space. The ritual must be named as part of casting this ritual. The area itself counts as a potent symbol for the ritual's performance, granting a +1 bonus to all rolls for that ritual. It also grants a single use of the rote ability for the first roll of performing that ritual.
