The Great Wheel Freehold

The Great Wheel Freehold is New York’s primary freehold. Though it was once made up of several technically lesser freeholds throughout the Five Boroughs, the Great Wheel Freehold is now one of the largest single changeling freeholds in the world. Each of the boroughs is home to one of the four Courts, with Manhattan serving as “Equinox Isle,” where the Sovereigns of the Great Wheel Dominion rule jointly in seasonal pairs which change out at Summer and Winter Solstices.

Manhattan

Equinox Isle, home of the Dominion and gathering place for the most vicious of changeling politics, including the chapterhouses for the Entitlements, and home for the Courtless.

The Sovereigns of the Domain

• The Seneschent Dominion: During the Waning of the Wheel, the Seneschent Dominion, made up of the most-esteemed of the Autumn and Winter Courts, rules the Great Wheel Freehold.
  • The Prince of Falling Leaves: Prince Selwin, the Prince of Falling Leaves, is the quiet master of the Autumn Court. Though he is lithe, thin and unassuming, he is also an oracle and occultist without equal. His flesh is the dry, crackling umber of leaves somehow turned into parchment, and he wears black with bronze accents. His long auburn-and-gold hair, with a slight frosting of white at the temples, is worn in a variety of arrangements, often with autumn leaves displayed tastefully in it.   • The Argent Queen: Selene, the Argent Queen and the Lady in Silver, rules the Winter Court. Beautiful, haunting and utterly overwhelming in her majesty, she is also cruel and utterly without mercy. She shines with the silver of moonlight on deep winter ice, and her kisses are enough to take a man’s breath away. (Fairest/Bright One; Wyrd 7; Winter Mantle 5 — Crown; Duchy of the Icebound Heart)
• The Nascent Dominion: During the Waxing of the Wheel, the Nascent Dominion, made up of the most-esteemed of the Spring and Summer Courts, rules the Great Wheel Freehold.
  • The Vernal Father: Sebastian, the Vernal Father, is a figure who causes no small amount of wistful sighing over. He cuts an impressive figure, broad-shouldered without being too wide, strong without being bulky, thick without being fat. He wears his whiskers thin on the cheek in spring, sports a full beard in summer and autumn and shaves his face clean in winter. He takes pride in his ability to be – very nearly – all things for everyone who fancies men: sensitive when his lover needs it, passionate and nearly rapacious when passion calls for it, insightful, refined and earthy by turns. Those who admire him love him for his ability to be affectionate with anyone; those who criticize him remark on his fickleness and need for conquest.   • The Red-Spear Madonna: Ladora Red, the Madonna of the Red Spear, is the ruler of the Summer Court in the Great Wheel Freehold. Its previous king, Malcolm Sainted, gave over the position when she did what seems to most to be the impossible: she slew her Keeper who came looking for her, wishing to return her to the head of his armies as his blood-soaked whore-general. She has long red hair, worn in dreadlocks, and tattoos that begin in black-and-red lines at the top of her forehead, cover her face and dip into her cleavage.
