  • INT, DAY – PSYCHOLOGIST’S OFFICE
    • MEGAN CREEGAN begins telling DR. JANICE CHAPLAIN what’s been troubling her dreams lately.
  • EXT, EVENING – VITAGLIANO MANOR
    • RYAN CREEGAN gets into the driver seat of a car, laughing and looking a little tipsy.
    • LUCIANO VITAGLIANO, similarly inebriated, gets into the passenger seat of car.
    • JULIA CREEGAN, accompanying YOUNG MEGAN CREEGAN and FRANK CREEGAN get into the back seat.
  • EXT, EVENING – STREETS OF VERONA
    • Car driven by RYAN CREEGAN crashes at an intersection into a car driven by JOSEPH MARLOW.
    • Fade to black with sound of approaching sirens and crying children.

[edit] Scene 2 [Producer]

  • INT, DAY – JUDGE’S CHAMBERS
    • JUSTICE THOMAS HEANLY discusses the custody situation with POLICE CHIEF JONATHAN CREEGAN and his brother, COUNSELOR HENRY CREEGAN, while YOUNG MEGAN and FRANK look on.
    • JONATHAN, in frustration at the situation, makes an impassioned statement in an attempt to bring the children home with him.
    • FATHER SALVATORE VITAGLIANO enters accompanied by NICK PODLESKI.
    • SALVATORE attempts to guilt trip JONATHAN.
    • JONATHAN demands that the children come with him.
    • HENRY attempts to speak authoritatively on legal precedence with which he is not very familiar.
    • NICK makes a derogatory comment about the Irish.
    • In frustration, THOMAS decides that the children will be wards of the state for at least one week until custody can be worked out in hearings.

[edit] Scene 3 [Russell, Eddy, Kelley, Producer]

  • INT, DAY – HENRY CREEGAN’S HOUSE
    • JONATHAN and HENRY barge through the door, expressing their frustrations with the situation.
    • JONATHAN implies that he lives here since his recent separation with his wife, MARY ANNE CREEGAN.
    • General sounds of habitation can be heard from the kitchen.
    • HENRY tells JONATHAN that he’ll get him a drink and enters the kitchen.
    • He finds BRIDGET MARIE CREEGAN, his daughter, smoking a cigarette and filing her nails after a failed attempt at cooking.
    • They argue.
    • JONATHAN enters the kitchen.
    • BRIDGET scolds the two men upon learning that they failed to bring home the children.
    • HENRY rails that his brother doesn’t respect him.
    • JONATHAN states his grim intention to make sure that the children will come home with them.

[edit] Scene 4 [Producer]

  • INT, EVENING – O’MALLEY’S BAR
    • JUSTICE THOMAS HEANLY sits at a dimly lit table.
    • NICK joins him and hands him a paper bag full of money.
    • NICK tells THOMAS that the other half will follow after the children are in the Vitagliano’s custody.
    • THOMAS says that he’ll make it happen and seeks assurance from NICK that “he’ll have no more trouble.”
    • THOMAS gets up to leave.

[edit] Scene 5 [Michelle]

  • FOLLOW THOMAS TO DOOR, EXIT
    • ENTER FATHER SALVATORE VITAGLIANO, FOLLOW TO BAR
    • SALVATORE greets the bartender, PATRICK O’MALLEY, and asks for a bottle of wine.
    • In the background…
      • BRIDGET plays pool by herself.
      • NICK sips his beer.
      • Both listen to PATRICK and SALVATORE’S conversation.
    • PATRICK brings him a bottle of red wine.
    • SALVATORE laments the situation regarding the children.
    • PATRICK hopes there won’t be too much trouble.
    • SALVATORE mentions that FRANCO VITAGLIANO will be home soon and checks to make sure that he can stay in the room above PATRICK’S bar.
    • NICK wanders over and alludes that FRANCO has been in prison, trying to dissuade PATRICK from giving FRANCO the room.
    • PATRICK makes it clear that he knows FRANCO because he was FRANCO’S sponsor in prison.
    • PATRICK states that FRANCO can have the room.
    • EXIT, SALVATORE and NICK.

[edit] Scene 6 [Kelley]

  • PAN TO SHOT OF PATRICK BEING PULLED INTO BACK ALCOVE BY BRIDGET
    • BRIDGET talks seductively with PATRICK.
    • She implies that the police will likely be looking closely at O’Malley’s with two ex-convicts occupying the place.
    • She says she’ll keep the police off PATRICK’S back if he will keep her appraised of FRANCO’S visitors.
    • PATRICK agrees.

[edit] Scene 7 [Russell]

  • INT, EVENING – CASTLE MOTEL, ROOM 201
    • HENRY CREEGAN pushes money at CANDY MCLESKI, who whines that she likes HENRY for who he is and doesn’t want his money.
    • CANDY whines that HENRY said he’d take her away to Vegas and she still wants to go.
    • HENRY agrees to go to Vegas with CANDY. The implication is that they will be married.
    • EXIT, HENRY

[edit] Scene 8 [Jason]

  • EXT, EVENING – CASTLE MOTEL, ROOM 201
    • HENRY lights a cigarette and is surprised to see NICK PODLESKI approach.
    • NICK insults HENRY, who hauls off and slugs him.
    • As he’s sliding down the door, NICK opens the door to CANDY’S room.
    • CANDY shrieks and drags NICK inside, expressing her confusion and anger at HENRY.

[edit] Scene 9 [Kelley]

  • EXT, EVENING – STREET IN VERONA
    • ENTER BRIDGET leaving a 24 hour Kinko’s carrying a stack of copied flyers and humming in a self-satisfied manner.
    • Passing a phone booth, she drops a couple of the sheets into it before continuing on out of the shot.
    • ZOOM on the flyer which advertises “Candy McLeski – Sensual Massage Specialist.”

[edit] Scene 10 [Producer]

  • INT, DAY – VITAGLIANO BEACH HOUSE
    • Camera sits behind the head of ESMARETTA VITAGLIANO, looking at FATHER SALVATORE VITAGLIANO standing in front of her, and FABIAN sitting off to one side.
    • ESMARETTA expresses her gratitude for SALVATORE handling this situation, and her expectation that he will retrieve the children for her.

[edit] Scene 11 [Eddy]

  • INT, DAY – POLICE CHIEF’S OFFICE
    • JONATHAN CREEGAN sits glowering at his monitor.
    • ENTER OFFICER KARL GREEN.
    • JONATHAN informs KARL that JUDGE THOMAS HEANLY is being bribed by the Vitaglianos.
    • JONATHAN tells KARL to investigate THOMAS and if he can’t find proof of the bribery or some other scandal to make something up.
    • KARL agrees.
    • JONATHAN mentions that FRANCO VITAGLIANO is being released on good behavior and tells KARL that he will be FRANCO’S parole officer.
    • KARL, delightedly tells JONATHAN that he’ll make FRANCO’S life difficult.

  • INT, DAY – OUR LADY OF SORROWS CHURCH
    • FATHER SALVATORE delivers a sermon about Jacob and Esau.
    • During poignant moments, side shots and cross-fades highlight…
      • JONATHAN and HENRY sitting stoically in the front of the church.
      • YOUNG MEGAN and FRANK sitting silently in the back.
      • ESMARETTA VITAGLIANO wearing a black veil sitting next to the comatose LUCIANO VITAGLIANO lying in a hospital bed.
      • BRIDGET CREEGAN having sex with DR. JACK EVANS
    • While the sermon continues, LIEUTENANT MICHAEL CREEGAN gets up and heads for the bathroom.
    • NICK PODLESKI gets up and follows him.
  • EXT, DAY – OUR LADY OF SORROWS CHURCH
    • MICHAEL tells NICK that JONATHAN is on to his deal with JUDGE THOMAS HEANLY.
  • INT, DAY – PSYCHOLOGIST’S OFFICE
    • MEGAN CREEGAN tells DR. JANICE CHAPLAIN that though the crash mixed up her life, she’ll never forget the fiasco of her uncle HENRY’S Vegas wedding.

  • PANNING SHOT of NICK PODLESKI under a bridge saying “The grass is always greener, but I can never cross over the bridge.”
  • QUICK SHOT of FATHER SALVATORE carrying/walking YOUNG MEGAN and FRANK, who are crying, into the church.
