The Vandiir's have for hundreds of years served as the heads of the diplomatic core of the High Elven kingdom. Carsyss, being the only child not of full Elven lineage, was always placed last among her children. While her siblings went on apprenticeships as junior diplomats to high-prestige courts, Carsyss was mockingly given positions in Goblin or Orcish courts. At first, Carsyss mimicked the disdain of the senior diplomats she was placed with. Those diplomats were often formerly competent people that had since fallen on hard times: alcoholics or quick to turn violent. But as the years passed, Carsyss found that her dedication and thoughtfulness towards her work did not lead to acceptance at home, nor did cruelty towards the lesser people in the courts she visited. It was at her final position, at the court of the Orcish King Maugoth that she changed her ways. Vingarion Larethus, was once a well-known leader amongst the High Elves. stories were told of swordsmanship though he was more likely to reach a diplomatic solution first. Several years ago he was maimed in a conflict with a tribe of Orcs. As punishment for his failure, he was forced to take a position at Maugoth's court. Rumors surrounded Vingarion. Bodies of the young or infirm would periodically be found, missing pieces or burnt. The Orcs knew it was Vingarion, but could not risk another war over revenge. After witnessing the truth of Vingarion and realizing the truth of her own life, Carsyss took revenge for the Orcs and for herself. She waited for him to leave his chambers, and broke in to steel the very sword he developed his reputation on. When they were alone, Carsyss exacted revenge. She left two copies of a letter. One to Lyra justifying her actions detailing the many crimes he had committed and ultimately blaming Lyra for them. The second was the same written in Orcish, a script seldom learned by any Elf.
