− | ''Friday, October 26th. Fraternity Row's Halloween Party''
| |
− | * Midterms are over, and everyone except Jace Evans performed well, but his worry over Harris Clayton seemed a larger concern.
| |
− | * In celebration of the stressful period's end, the University of Astoria's Fraternity Row throws an annual Halloween bash that spills across every fraternity house.
| |
− | * Thomas Michael Craig receives a call from Teresa Cantu consulting on plans for the evening. Thomas is going to the party as a lawyer, but Teresa hasn't figured out her costume yet. She eventually defaults to her mom's connections and goes as a cop, completing a Law & Order theme for their night.
| |
− | * Jace, meanwhile, is going as something entirely aberrant for him: a nerd. Aedia Randall, jungle slut, expresses surprise when he runs into her, but he points out that the important thing about his costume are the pockets, which she quickly avails herself of, getting Jace's night off to a good start.
| |
− | * Danny Marin calls Warner Pelt and is a little surprised to learn he's heading over to Fraternity Row as Dr. Manhattan, but he decides to come along while not wearing a costume. Warner points out the lameness of this idea, and Danny asks if he can borrow Warner's Boy Scout uniform. Warner agrees, and they head out.
| |
− | * Henry Mulgrew is busy pursuing his fantasy fulfillment for Renee McDonnall by dressing her up as Ahsoka Tano, but the proceedings are a little subdued, as Henry has noticed Renee distancing herself from the missing Jerome Tate's circle of friends.
| |
− | * Stella Jalo is of course on hand to monitor ATO's party, but she finds that her werewolf status enhances her den mother duties. Deacon Alders, still deferring to her every whim, has taken on a lot of the responsibility of the party himself, no doubt trying to keep Stella from getting riled up again. Stella's frustrations extend mostly to Reese Tavis and Volk Yuriev, however, neither of whom has made any contact recently. Stella has left many an angry message with Volk demanding an explanation.
| |
− | * Dr. Elaine Litchfield, Halloween warrior, arrives at Fraternity Row armed with her silver knuckles, a period dress, and nametags to humiliate the costumeless.
| |
− | * Thomas runs into Warner eventually, and noting to himself that the Dr. Manhattan costume allows little utility, asks the Boy Scout for his Leatherman. Danny is chagrined to learn that not only did Warner let him borrow the Boy Scout suit, he's using him as his walking preparedness kit for the night when Warner reaches into Danny's pocket to retrieve the Leatherman.
| |
− | * Jace, meanwhile, has been on his own for a bit cruising the circuit and drowning his recent sorrows by emptying his pockets for his own consumption. Once he's run out, he sheds his nerd costume for the surprise underneath: a tight Superboy tank top and short shorts bearing the emblem across his junk. He catches up to Aedia at TPA only to find her dancing with a meat head jock in a shabby Captain America t-shirt. To Aedia's delight, Jace elbows himself in, provoking a fight over her. Thomas notices her pleasure and walks by with a casual "bitch," which only increases that pleasure. The jock is no werewolf, though, so Jace easily bests him, securing Aedia's affections for the night along with a hero/minx pic for Instagram. At least DC wins one Marvel match up this year.
| |
− | * Henry has been spending most of his night partying at ATO, and Carter Smythe finds him to tell him that someone is looking for him up on ATO's back deck. Henry correctly surmises that it's Reese and wastes no time confronting him. Reese tells Henry that he's officially leaving UofA and urges Henry to do the same, saying the Astoria won't be safe for any werewolves soon. He apologizes for biting Henry at the bonfire party. Henry asks him if the fighting pit thing is true, which Reese denies, but he does say that Harris and Miranda are with the Coastal Range pack. He refuses to say much more than that, and Henry tells him that if he wants to have any credibility, he needs to make sure Harris gets in touch with Jace. Reese says that's not his call and leaves.
| |
− | * Warner and Danny are hanging out at ATO, and Danny notices Warner zoning out while looking in Henry's general direction. He asks Warner if he's into Henry, and Warner discovers that pleading the 5th is far from sufficient to hide the "yes" in his non-answer.
| |
− | * Halloween takes a further turn for the worse when werewolf Alice shows up at ATO in a Little Red Riding Hood outfit and her own personal werewolf walking wall whose name turns out to be Donaldo. She's there to relay a message to Stella from Volk. He apologizes for not being able to talk to her directly and for not being able to explain himself to her. Stella, showing a Bette Midler level of brassiness, is having none of it, though. She rips into Alice (metaphorically), telling her that Volk's evasion is all too expected, and he already knows exactly how she feels about it from the numerous messages she's left him. Alice finds it all so amusing, though, and tells Stella that of all the people bitten at the bonfire, only hers was intentional. This whole exchange riles up Stella's wolf, but she uses her new seminar tricks to keep herself under control. Alice leaves with a smirk, and to get her wolf fully under control, Stella retreats to the kitchen to explore some cutting.
| |
− | * Most of our heroes have noticed Alice by the this point, and Elaine takes the opportunity to snap some photos of Alice and Donaldo. To her surprise, the photos actually turn out. Who knows what further ideas for experiments this spawns in Elaine's demented mindscape. Both Elaine and Warner text Vanya Simonson to let her know about Alice's presence.
| |
− | * Thomas takes to opportunity to approach Alice, who seems more than happy to entertain his interest. She sends a sc/growling Donaldo off to fetch drinks while she drags Thomas into another frat to dance. Donaldo runs afoul of Neena Cosgrove, but he simply hands her a drink and takes off. Alice inhales Thomas's scent deeply, and while he's trying to be wily with her, she counters by noting that she can smell his attraction to Teresa and wonders if he's admitted it. This stops Thomas cold in his tracks, and he questions if he's made the right decision in engaging with Alice.
| |
− | * Jace and Aedia show up to the party, and Aedia is instantly jealous that the whole room seems to be focused on Alice. When Jace praises Thomas's pick up skills, Aedia realizes that Alice is dancing with Jace's friend. Jace is unable to provide much intel on Alice, though, admitting that he's seen her before with that Reese guy, and her name is Ellen or something. Aedia claims that Ellen is a skank name. Alice overhears the exchange and notices the attention being focused on her. She decides to collect Donaldo and leave.
| |
− | * Elaine and Warner attempt to follow them, but they end up in the parking lot with no idea where the werepair have gone. Vanya catches up to them, and she is quite upset that they have put themselves at such risk. She explains that both Alice and Donaldo could easily rip either of them to shreds and wouldn't hesitate to do it. She appreciates their curiosity, but they have no idea what they're getting themselves into. Warner tells Vanya that he's considering joining the Astoria pack.
| |
− | * Back on Fraternity Row, Thomas runs into Victor and makes an offering of peace over cigars. Victor is decidedly nicer than usual and even admits to feeling some guilt over the bonfire attack. He smells a bit of blood on Thomas, who tells him that he's recently been tattooed. More alarming to Victor, he also smells Alice all over Thomas. Because Thomas doesn't seem to realize the gravity of this, Victor tells him that many of Alice's past "relationships" start with such a marking and go rapidly downhill from there. It's also a warning to the Astoria pack that she's found one of their kin. Thomas finishes his Halloween questioning much of his decision-making process.
| |
− | * Stella's answer to the werewolf situation is guns. Elaine is aghast.
| |
− | ''Saturday, October 27th. Parents Weekend''
| |
− | * Jace and Davis are dressing in the locker room after an early morning workout when Davis asks to see Jace's phone. Remarkably, Jace hands it over without questioning, and Davis installs a walky talky app on it, explaining that after their conversation at ATO, Davis will feel better if Jace can reach him quickly. Jace makes sure to point out that the two men are not dating, and Davis is sarcastic at Jace's vigilance over people falling too hard for him.
| |
− | * As the two leave the Athletics Center, they find the wrestling team outside preparing to hold the competition for team captain, the two prime contenders being Henry and Carter Smythe. When Jace gives Henry some words of encouragement and points out that as his lab partner, Henry will make Jace look bad if he loses, Davis continues his sarcastic commentary on Jace's priorities. Jace figures this is flirting and not criticism, and the two join Warner, who is also on hand, to watch the matches.
| |
− | * As the wrestling team gets organized, Danny's new presence on the team becomes clear, especially when Bradley Humes shows up with some of Danny's former baseball mates to rib the freshman for quitting the team. Henry, who still hasn't had a chance for some play time with Danny in his room, of course hears (and smells) everything, and his wolf becomes indignant. As Henry struggles to control Sparky, both Jace and Warner notice the strangeness. Warner, who also overheard his friend being taunted, also goes into a wolf rage, but because he's sitting right next to Jace, he has little privacy to deal with it.
| |
− | * Henry has a untested, retooled inhaler, and hoping for the best (or at least to stave off the worst), he uses it. Sparky is indignant as he gets drugged and feels sleepy, but both he and Henry stay locked in battle over the issue of killing Bradley.
| |
− | * Naturally, Desmond Lancaster is lurking in the shadows nearby and gestures Henry over to show him a trick. Apparently, nothing scares an inner wolf off like a broken limb, so, shielding Henry from the view of the wrestling spectators, Desmond breaks his arm and quickly resets it. Sparky decides to steer into his drugged stupor and leaves Henry to deal with healing his bone.
| |
− | * Warner manages to keep his wolf under control with some subtle self-injury as well, and Jace, who has been watching both of the pups, informs Warner that there's no such thing as a sympathetic roid rage, and he's pretty sure Desmond must be Henry's dealer. Recognizing Danny from the night before, Jace also asks Warner if dressing Danny up in his Boy Scout uniform was some sort of narcissistic foreplay between the two. Warner's wolf has already gone back in hiding, so it doesn't try to come out to bite Jace's face off.
| |
− | * As the situation cools off, Stella arrives with visitors in tow: Henry's mother, aunt and younger sister, who have arrived for the weekend and insisted on watching Henry compete. Henry flees to the relative safety of the wrestling match as his family settles into the stands next to Jace, Warner, and Davis to watch the match.
| |
− | * Although Carter puts up a good show, Henry ultimately overpowers him in their match, ending it with an accidental shoulder dislocation. Henry is declared team captain, and it's a good thing Sparky is sleeping so Henry doesn't have to fight the urge to urinate on everyone.
| |
− | * Jace comments that he might need to have a talk with Henry about steroids, which Henry's aunt, Bethany Boss (really?) overhears. To her apparent disappointment, though, Jace denies that the comment has any truth. As everyone goes to congratulate Henry on his win, his family insists on taking him out to breakfast along with his friend Jace. Although Henry tries to get Jace out of it, Jace gleefully accepts with a mischievous air but proves that he can be charming when he bothers to be.
| |
− | *Stella returns to ATO and smells fear wafting up from the basement. There, she discovers Kaleb Jackson with some biker dude she's never seen before. Kaleb introduces the fearful man as Arnar but clearly doesn't want Stella to linger. Since Stella doesn't yet have any guns to mow everyone down with, she leaves but uses her wolf ears from the kitchen to continue to listen in. Arnar is a member of a biker gang called the Jokers, and he and Kaleb are plotting to get some mysterious box (it probably doesn't have severed heads in it) onto a truck.
| |
− | * Thomas is awoken by a call from his parents, who are on their way to Astoria after flying into Portland. Thomas's mom asks for a tour of the campus's science facilities, so Thomas texts Elaine to ask if she can show them around. Since Elaine is currently victimless, she agrees, probably hoping one of the pups will show up while she's on campus. Warner, who's Mr. Present today, does not disappoint as he and his parents join Thomas's family. The tour is all around uncomfortable, as Thomas's parents try to find out what their larcenous son has been up to and push him to more outward achievements in school. Thomas's mom Janet also manages to offend Elaine by showing surprise that the woman knows hard science and has labs equipped to practice it. If only she were privy to Elaine's current projects . . .
| |
− | * Teresa also shows up during the tour with newly acquired schematics for Dean Edmonton's car, and she didn't get the text about Thomas's family being on hand, so the duo attempt to pass off the schematics as something school related. Master liar Thomas has no trouble passing this off. Hard science and madness once again intersect when Elaine notices two corvid shadows perched on both Thomas and Teresa's shadows.
| |
− | * Warner's parents and brother separate from the group after the tour, where Warner's parents also press him to greater achievements. Fortunately, Vanya shows up to meet Warner's family and reassures them that their son has been doing well in his circumstances. Warner, however, picking up on all the emotions floating around campus, starts to have a panic attack over all the stresses of school, which he barely suppresses. Warner's parents also inquire about tonight's Fall Formal, but when it becomes evident that most parents don't attend, they drop the subject, much to Warner's relief. Thomas isn't so lucky with his parents.
| |
− | * Warner notices a commotion across the quad when Jace is confronted by an angry Tommy Halloran. He doesn't need to be nearby to overhear Tommy confronting Jace about e-mails he's received threatening to expose some online porn he performs on jaycannon.com. Jace, however, assures him that he will take care of the issue and sends Tommy on his way. Suddenly, everything falls into place for Warner, and he realizes that maybe he should have looked at Jace's website before soliciting his help.

− | ===Session Eight: 10/29/2014===
| |
− | ''Saturday, October 27th. The Fall Formal''
| |
− | * Stella Jalo is preparing for the Fall Formal and decides to wear silver in defiance of her wolfishness. She quickly learns that this is a bad idea, as the continued presence of the metal drives her into lament, with her senses dulled and focus slipping. It's almost like her old days as a pothead, just less good. She decides to continue with the silver anyway.
| |
− | * Henry Mulgrew arrives at the Fall Formal solo, having convinced his mother, with help from his aunt and sister, that it won't be for her. It really isn't for Henry, either, who quickly finds two tables against a wall and does his best potted plant imitation between them.
| |
− | * Thomas Michael Craig does show up with his parents, but they seem content to leave him to himself for the night.
| |
− | * Jace Evans arrives appropriately late but brings his usual air of disdain. He has his own agenda for the night, having prepared a massive afterparty at one of Astoria's old canning factories to establish his supremacy on the UofA's social scene. He's accompanied by a crew of students who helped with the set up, and he sends them into the crowd to start talking up the afterparty.
| |
− | * Henry's wallflowering doesn't escape Jace's notice, so he approaches Henry's ATO brother and wrestling rival Carter Smythe to suggest that Carter should be rallying ATO to celebrate their brother's achievement. See, even Jace can participate in Parents' Weekend.
| |
− | * While Carter is gathering some of the bros, baseball sourpuss Bradley Humes, also in ATO, bumps into Henry and mocks his anti-social behavior. Evidently, Bradley's still contemptuous at Danny Marin's defection to the wrestling team and blames Henry in part for it. Remarkably, Sparky isn't really all that interested in eating Bradley's face off, and the frat bro leaves unaware of the danger he just faced.
| |
− | * Carter and Jace arrive at Henry's side with a crowd of not just ATO brothers but most of the wrestling team as well to drink in his honor. Henry forces himself into social mode for his fellows and manages to make a good showing. Jace is sure to point out that it's his lab partner that's captain of the wrestling team and also that while a little celebration here is fine, it's really the afterparty that has everything on hand for the proper dues.
| |
− | * While everyone is hanging out around Henry, ATO president Deacon Alders tells Henry that he should talk to Jace about rushing ATO since he's there all the time and knows all the brothers. Even though Henry knows that bringing this up to Jace will only result in derision, he steels himself and does so anyway. He's proven correct when Jace laughs at the idea and questions whether Henry just wants to share a bathroom with him.
| |
− | * Stella is, of course, a chaperone for the formal, and Juanita Cantu, Teresa's mother, makes small talk with her from the sidelines. Like any good parent on Parents' Weekend, Juanita is doing what she can to get her child more involved, and knowing Stella's fraternity connection, Juanita asks her about possible frats for her daughter. Stella, who has a dim view from what she's seen of Aedia Randall and crew, tells her that TPA, the university's sole sorority, is not likely a good match (Really? Have you noticed what your boys are like, Stella?). However, one of the co-ed frats is a more promising prospect.
| |
− | * Juanita joins Teresa, who is of course, hanging out with Thomas by this point. This is the first time Thomas has met Juanita, and he notices immediately the woman's tattoos marking her as a member of Las Renas (sp, Joe?) an L.A. gang notorious for their lifetime membership packages. Not even an expired credit card number gets you out of your dues with them, and suddenly Thomas understands what the woman is doing in remote Astoria.
| |
− | * Teresa has about as much disdain for the idea of joining a frat as Jace does, but she's more polite about it, and she and Thomas slip away to check out Dean Tessa Edmonton's car outside in the parking lot. Shifty Thomas has Teresa pose by the car for some photos to get clear shots of the car's interior and security system.
| |
− | * Volk Yuriev finally makes himself known by texting Stella that he's heard she wants to talk. He invites her to join him at Drina Daisy later that night. Wary of meeting him on his own turf, Stella asks to meet him at Walmart instead, but confirming that he does indeed have good taste, Volk stands his ground and says it's Drina Daisy or nothing.
| |
− | * When Stella tells Henry that she intends to go meet Volk, Henry of course objects, but Stella has already decided that this is her only course of action, especially since wandering around the woods hasn't accomplished anything, not even a musical number. Victor Sutherland stops Stella on her way out, though, to tell her that the Astoria alpha is ready to meet with her in person after the formal at midnight tonight. Stella doesn't tell him what she's up to, but she does say she'll be back if she can. Victor also tells Henry of this.
| |
− | * The formal starts breaking up a little early as Jace decides he's done with this scene and announces the start of the afterparty. He's done remarkably well in promoting the party (even Henry joined in), and the mass exodus begins. Aedia is not pleased, especially when Jace asks her if she really cares about all this bullshit. Jace is ready for a very public fight with Aedia as the final feather in his cap, but she one ups him by asking if he really cares about her going to his party. Shockingly, he admits that he does, and Aedia promises to show up later once the party is in full swing.
| |
− | * As Henry is hanging out after most everyone has left, he uses his wolf ears to eavesdrop on Aedia talking to some of her gaggle. She has noticed Jace's promotion of Henry tonight and thinks it's nice that he has taken on Project Henry and is looking out for a friend.
| |
− | * Meanwhile, Stella arrives at Drina Daisy to meet Volk. He's the consummate gentleman, but Stella is in no mood for niceties, only answers. Volk tries the nice approach first, telling Stella that she should learn to enjoy her new power. He even wants her at his side as a real den mother. Stella counters that she knows he deliberately bit her, and she's heard of his horrible methods for training pups. All she's interested in is a cure.
| |
− | * Volk's veneer slips, and he tells Stella that if she wants to end the curse, he'll be more than happy to be the one to do it for her. He cleans up after his own mistakes. He also admits that his methods for teaching pups control are harsh; their wolves learn to fear him, and through that they are controlled.
| |
− | * When Stella asks for an explanation of Volk's hostilities toward the Astoria pack, Volk tells her that by an ancient accord, the area of Astoria is supposed to remain clear of werewolves, but when pressed he refuses to divulge any further details. He claims his actions have simply been in service to this accord. He also tells Stella that she can't remain in Astoria. Stella, of course, refuses to abandon her life here, and Volk is clear that this is a choice he can't accept. He does promise to come for her last, however. This ends the rather uncomfortable meeting, and Stella wonders if trying to get back into dating was really worth it.
| |
− | * Thomas and Teresa have returned to their dorm to change for the afterparty, and while Teresa is showering next door, Thomas receives a surprise visit from Alice, who simply saunters into his room. She asks Thomas to come spend some time with her, and while Thomas tries to play it cool, for once he's unable to hide his discomfort. Alice leans in to lick some sweat from Thomas's face and suggests that they can wait for Teresa to come with them if he'd prefer. Thomas wastes no time in leaving with her, but he leaves his phone on the bed. When the two get outside, Thomas's face is unceremoniously smashed into a lamppost by big bad Donaldo. Alice chides him for not using the chloroform, but Donaldo confesses this is more fun as Thomas blacks out.
| |
− | * Jace is also in his room to get ready for the afterparty, and he emerges from his shower clad only in a towel to find a very threatening looking woman waiting in his room. She wastes no time in wrestling him to the ground and holds a knife to his throat. She tells Jace that she's a fan of his online work, especially that one move he does with his hips. Her weight and strangely masculine smell set something off in Jace, and he goes berserk trying to get her off him, not even deterred when she slices his throat shallowly. The woman tells Jace that the blood has raised her interest in other ways, but she covers his mouth with a chloroform soaked rag rather than hurt him further. He blacks out.
| |
− | * Stella arrives back at the nearly abandoned formal for the midnight appointment with the Astoria alpha. Henry is still there waiting for the meeting, and the two are ushered up to a private suite above the ballroom. Most of the Astoria pack is there, along with Aedia Randall. Yes, Aedia is the alpha. You can have a moment to let that sink in.
| |
− | * Okay, so Aedia apologizes for all the secrecy, but her mother, the pack's former alpha, was killed less than a year ago. She hasn't been sure if she can trust the pups, but she feels more confident in them now. She's concerned because tomorrow night is the next full moon, and she explains that each full moon has its own character. This one is the Blood Moon, when werewolves will feel compelled to hunt, and their blood lust will be stronger than ever. She wants to make plans for the three pups to be watched over separately by different members of the pack because feral wolves will draw strength from each other and make them more difficult to control. She intends to have Thomas watched in his loft, Stella in either her home or a shack out in the woods that Martin Dane knows about, and Henry in the library's rare books vault. She explains that as an alpha, she can growl a wolf into submission if necessary, and she intends to watch over Henry herself, as he's the most likely to become a furry tower of murder during the Blood Moon.
| |
− | * Henry brings up a sore spot when he asks if the books in the vault will be safe through all this. The books in the vault were stolen by Volk's pack, and among them were Aedia's mom's notes about the pack and other matters. Aedia tells them that her mother was especially sensitive and was called to Astoria by spirits of some sort who wanted a wolf pack there. She acknowledges that there was indeed some accord in place with mysterious someones to keep werewolves out of the area, but those people abandoned Astoria, so the pact no longer holds.
| |
− | * Henry also asks what happened to cause Reese to change sides. Victor is upset at this turn of the conversation, and Aedia simply says that Volk scared Reese into joining him. Aedia reveals that it was Victor that broke into the ATO house to gather intel on Reese, and Desmond Lancaster and Vanya Simonson were two of the werewolves that trashed the gym when they discovered some of Volk's pack there.
| |
− | * Henry also asks what Aedia's intentions toward Jace have been this whole time, but she just says he's a good lay, and she likes the fact that he's hot and cold with her (so stay tuned for more drama). She also reveals that she's been afraid that Miranda Barnes will come after Jace, so she's been sticking closer to him just in case. Jace was ambivalent about the first handjob, and the second one will be decidedly more unpleasant.
| |
− | * The pack is alarmed when Stella lets slip that Volk is in town and that she's just seen him, but Aedia makes no outward plans to do anything about it.
| |
− | * When the meeting breaks up, Henry and Stella leave together. Henry intends to hit Jace's afterparty because he doesn't want to start Bro Down Take Two, but Stella smells blood outside. They find Davis Monk hiding in the shadows with claw marks on his torso. He tells them that he was attacked by a werewolf and confesses to being an ex-werewolf hunter. He's suspected that Henry and Stella are werewolves, but the reason he's there now is that he can't find Jace. Davis has thought about it, and he's wondering if someone found out about the meeting Jace called in Henry's room to talk about the disappearances following the bonfire attack and is targeting those present.
| |
− | * Stella drives Davis back to his room so he can tend to his wound while Henry goes to check Jace's room. Along the way, Stella asks Davis if he's ever heard of any mysterious cabal in Astoria. He says he hasn't, but she can smell that he's hiding something. She doesn't press him on the matter for now, however.
| |
− | * Henry talks his way into Jace's dorm and breaks into his room, where he immediately smells blood and panic. He follows it down the back stairway to the parking lot outside, where the trail ends with the smell of a car of some sort. Henry calls Renee McDonnall, who was also at the meeting in his room and gets no answer, so he heads over to her dorm to check things out. The dorm attendant there tells him that Renee left with her dance instructor not that long ago. Henry calls Vanya to tell her the situation and asks if Volk's pack includes a dancing werewolf. Vanya is alarmed at the news and says she'll be right there. She confirms the existence of dancing werewolves. So why no 'Into The Woods' scene yet, then?
| |
− | * Stella meanwhile calls Thomas only to have his phone answered by Teresa, who tells her that Thomas has simply vanished, which is not usual for him, especially without his phone. Stella comes over to check out Thomas's room herself, and she smells his fear when she gets there. She convinces Teresa that Thomas probably just had to go meet with his parents or something and follows Thomas's scent trail outside, where she also picks up Alice and Donaldo's scent at a dented lamppost. Ouch, Thomas. Their trail ends in the same spot as Jace's.
| |
− | * Henry and Stella converge with Vanya on the spot. Henry is anxious to do something, but Vanya tells him the pack is on it, and with the Blood Moon on the way, it's not safe for anyone for the pups to be wandering around without a leash. The scene ends in frustration.

− | * Dr. Elaine Litchfield awakens in a dark room with an unconscious Avery Wendley and a table full of books. The last thing she recalls is leaving the Fall Formal with Avery and drinking from his flask while the man stared at her with black witch eyes and talked about how important her "treasure" is. The guy's already gotten into her pants, so why is he trying so hard? At least, that's how her insanity frames the situation to justify how she has ended up in her own attic, which she claims to have been unaware of, with books that answer many questions she's been asking. Again, she claims to have been unaware of already having these books. Something dark and cold deep inside her laughs.
| |
− | * Elaine ushers a confused Avery out of her attic and finds a number of messages from Stella Jalo waiting on her phone. She calls her friend and finds out about all the chaos back on campus. Warner Pelt also calls in and discovers the same. Stella, Warner, and Henry Mulgrew all convene at Elaine's to compare notes, unaware of the madness lurking under her eaves.
| |
− | * The puppy brigade receives a call from Davis Monk, who reveals that he has placed a tracking app on Jace Evans's phone and followed it to a warehouse on the docks. He'd like their help, but he demands that they not involve the Astoria pack, alluding vaguely to his concern that his own family will become involved otherwise. Apparently this is not a desirable outcome, but maybe Davis is just anxious about coming out to his family, as if they don't already know.
| |
− | * The group gathers what weapons they have, which involves stopping by Stella's to raid her previously unrevealed weapons cache, which includes guns, bb guns (what?), and crossbows. She claims she has this leftover from her husband's police days, but really she just has a talent for one upping Elaine in the crazy department.
| |
− | * Meanwhile, Jace, Thomas Michael Craig, and Renee McDonnall eventually come to tied to chairs in the dark warehouse. Alice and Donaldo are there, and Alice begins questioning the trio about what they know. Thomas is of course shifty (and starts surreptitiously working free of his bonds), but Jace confronts Alice with the accusation that this treatment is way overboard for an illicit steroid ring. Renee fires back demanding to know if they also have Jerome Tate, and Alice further confuses Jace by confirming that they do indeed, along with Harris Clayton.
| |
− | * The conversation is interrupted when Maisha, the woman who nabbed Jace, drags a bloodied, unconscious Davis into the warehouse. They figure out in short order that Davis tracked them here using Jace's phone. Jace realizes that something bigger than steroids is involved here, plus Maisha has crazy finger nails. At least it's not her toe nails.
| |
− | * While the pups rush to the warehouse, Vanya Simonson texts Stella to ask if they have found out anything. True to their word to Davis, Stella tells her nothing. When they do arrive at the warehouse, the smell of blood reveals that something has gone awry. Warner puts on his Teen Wolf face for the situation.
| |
− | * As the group attempts to sneak closer to the warehouse, Henry's foot bursts through a rotten part of the dock, giving them away. Donaldo immediately emerges from the warehouse, putting on his own wolf face for the occasion. Jace's theories move from steroids to demon possession. Elaine shoots Donaldo with a poisoned crossbow bolt, driving him back into the warehouse, where he starts to assume dire wolf form. This dire wolf is not going to watch over your emo kids, either.
| |
− | * Renee starts screaming, so Alice chloroforms her again to shut her up. Henry and Sparky agree that Alice should die, but as Henry rushes into the warehouse, Maisha catches him from the shadows, stopping his charge. Jace finally reaches the correct conclusion, which Thomas confirms (also confirming that he knew the truth all along).
| |
− | * Elaine and Warner confront Donaldo together, but Elaine loses her silver knuckles trying to punch the hillock, so she switches to her backup syringe while Warner plays distraction. Jace and Thomas both manage to free themselves in the confusion.
| |
− | * Henry goes toe-to-toe with ex-soldier Maisha, and Davis pulls a surprise assist by rising from his feigned unconsciousness long enough to stab Maisha in the thigh with a silvered dagger that sizzles as it slices. Infomercials for these knives will soon be airing all over Astoria. Alice joins the fight with a nasty rake to Davis, putting him out of the fight for good.
| |
− | * As Henry uses the opening to grapple Maisha, Jace grabs Davis's knife to take a swipe at her, but he's too rattled to be an effective fighter at first. The fighting is interrupted by a piercing howl from outside the warehouse. Alice and Donaldo retreat, but as Maisha attempts to disengage, Jace gives her a nasty stab, enough to knock her out. Sparky, who has been fighting Henry, finally breaks free at the sight of all this blood and happily feasts on Maisha's throat and upper torso.
| |
− | * Thomas, who has been quietly trying to get away from the fight with an unconscious Renee, draws Sparky's ire once he starts looking for her, but before Sparky can attack, a huge humanoid wolf appears in the warehouse and growls commandingly. Sparky retreats, leaving Henry with a mouthful of Maisha larynx. He throws up and goes catatonic as the wolf lopes back outside.
| |
− | * JACE GOES BALLISTIC. The less said about this the better, but since practically everyone Jace cares about or trusts has turned out to be part of a conspiracy to keep him in the dark about the truth of Astoria's problems, including keeping from him Harris Clayton's true fate, he is furious. Pretty much everyone catches his vitriol as they try to explain the matter, which is only made worse when Aedia enters the warehouse and confesses her true nature as well.
| |
− | * Warner and Stella take the more pleasant job of taking Davis to the hospital, but not before Aedia finds out that he is a Monk. She explains that the Monks are a family of werewolf hunters who are fanatic in their devotion to their cause.
| |
− | * As everything is eventually explained to Jace through the punctuations of his shouting, Aedia offers the bite to Thomas and Jace as a form of protection now that they're clearly involved and targets. Although Thomas demurs, Jace tells Aedia that she owes him at least that much. Even though Stella, who has not left quite yet, points out the complications of being a werewolf, Jace just gives her and Henry a scornful, "I'm sure I can do better." Aedia commits to turning Jace during the full moon.
| |
− | * With nothing much left to do until tomorrow's full moon, the group breaks up. Against Aedia's wishes, Jace insists on walking back to campus with only Thomas, since he wants nothing to do with any of the werewolves present. He takes Davis's knife, though, and Aedia stealthily follows behind. Along the way, Thomas questions whether Jace is really aware of what being a werewolf entails, and Jace opens up a bit, telling Thomas that much of what he has seen about Jace isn't exactly the truth, and Jace really has nothing to lose by taking the risk of becoming a werewolf. When Thomas points out the harm Jace could do, Jace tells him that he's already done worse than anything a werewolf could do, revealing vaguely that one relatively innocent man is in prison and children taken from their family because of him. Thomas leaves the matter alone when Jace says he doesn't want to explain further.
| |
− | * After Stella and Warner leave the hospital, a statuesque woman and burly hunk enter looking for Davis. They are revealed as Davis's grandmother Lydette Monk and brother Gideon. The camera lingers a bit over Lydette's obvious poise and gorgeous silver hair before wisely fading out.

| |
− | ===Session Ten : 11/26/2014===
| |
− | ''Sunday, October 28th. The Next Morning''
| |
− | * Thomas Michael Craig awakens not sure how he's going to deal with explaining last night to Teresa Cantu. Or just deal with last night in general. He heads over to Kaffe early for some alone time.
| |
− | * Jace Evans hits the hospital as soon as visiting hours open to find out how Davis Monk is doing. When he enters Davis's room, though, he is blocked by the imposing Gideon Monk, who seems unimpressed that Jace's status as workout partner qualifies for a visit. Obviously he's fairly unimaginative about what being a workout partner could entail. Lydette Monk, however, might not be so naive, and she shoos Gideon to the side. As Jace passes Gideon, he notices reflected in the window the man blowing some sort of whistle behind him but hears nothing.
| |
− | * Davis is awake, and Lydette insists that Gideon get breakfast with her to give the men some privacy. Jace confesses that he should be pretty angry at Davis, but after seeing him near death last night trying to rescue him, he really can't be. Davis accepts any blame Jace has and is surprised when Jace instead holds his hand while they talk and asks if there's anything he can do for Davis. Ares, who doesn't like Gideon, will need tending to.
| |
− | * Jace asks about Davis's family, and Davis reveals that the Monks truly are brutally dedicated werewolf hunters. They all go through military training before taking up the hunt, and only Davis, because of his injury, has gone to college. Davis has seen his family do terrible things, and some of them are none too appreciative of his liberal bent. Davis also tells Jace that he keeps a cache of hunter equipment in a lockbox under his bed. Their conversation is halted by the rest of the family's return, so Jace takes his leave. Lydette strokes his cheek with her silver-adorned hands and tells him she's glad her grandson has someone looking out for him.
| |
− | * Teresa tracks Thomas down to Kaffe and is appalled at the extent of his injuries from the night before. For once, shifty Thomas isn't able to hide the truth very well, so he confesses to Teresa that he is involved in something but can't go into details because they involve other people's secrets. Teresa is surprisingly mature in her response, saying that she'll give Thomas the space for now, but insists that Thomas go the hospital, offering to pose as his abusive SO to deflect questions about the cause of his injuries.
| |
− | * Henry Mulgrew wakes up to the smell of pancakes. With nothing better to do with the unresponsive pup last night, Stella Jalo brought him to her house to sleep off the murder and cannibalism. Pancakes seem to do the trick, as Henry wakes up all bright eyed and bushy tailed with little lingering horror over last night's events, though he tells Stella he doesn't want to talk about it. Stella recalls that Henry's family is still in town and offers to take them out to brunch with Henry. Fortunately, Henry's eating for two, and Sparky has mostly digested Maisha by now. Bring on the hash!
| |
− | * While at brunch, Henry's mom Melissa mentions that his sister Christina has been secretly looking at the University of Astoria curriculum on her tablet, not pictures of Portia de Rossi or Michelle Dockery as expected. Henry breaks out into a cold sweat trying to think of ways to turn her off the idea, but his aunt Bethany Boss assures him that she will start singing the university's praises.
| |
− | * Jace has spent the afternoon moping and taking out his frustrations on fuckbud Sissy Thompson and finally texts Aedia Randall about tonight. She comes over and notes the smell in Jace's room. He shoots back that it can't be the first time she's smelled someone else on him. Aedia isn't really in the mood for a fight, though, and instead tells Jace that she has to attend to the pups first for the full moon but after will give Jace the bite. Jace questions pack life and whether Aedia will have control over him, to which Aedia responds that Jace will be free to leave the Astoria pack whenever he wants but yes, he will have to submit to her in wolf matters. Jace tells her she's welcome to try, but he accepts the pack life. Jace offers to help with Warner Pelt if need be. Aedia leaves, but not before Jace expresses some regret that their relationship hasn't gone as planned while making it clear that it's over.
| |
− | * Aedia texts Thomas, one floor down from Jace, on her way out to talk to him. Thomas is firm that he doesn't want the bite, and Aedia tells her that unlike Jace, she's not sure Thomas would survive it. While trying to tiptoe around the notion of magic, Aedia tells Thomas that she smells the spirit of death around him. She further unsettles Thomas by mentioning that Teresa is very clearly into him. The two agree that Thomas would be a good person to have on hand at Warner's loft for the full moon, and she also mentions that Orlando Guerra is the Astoria pack's rite master, which means he has some special tricks to help with Thomas's injuries.
| |
− | * Prompted by Aedia's revelation, Thomas returns to Teresa to tell her that he definitely wants her in his life even if he can't include her in every part of it just now. Teresa responds that this feels like an escape clause to her, but she'll accept it. She always has arson to fall back on, though, if things get rougher.
| |
− | * Thomas stops by the library to see Orlando, who reveals that he can touch the pain away. With a face like that, of course he can.
| |
− | * Jace receives a call from Dean Tessa Edmonton asking to meet him at a new address for the evening. Puzzled and now on guard about everything, Jace texts Thomas the address he'll be at before heading over. The address turns out to be at the Youngs River Lofts, which the dean reveals she owns. One unit is empty, and she's decided she'd like Jace to live there for the time being. It'll be easier for their trysts away from campus, and she appreciates his company enough to have a protected space for it. Jace suffers from emotional whiplash and surprises a second person today with a show of affection by hugging her. He's speechless, and the best way he knows to thank the dean is to christen some of the rooms in the loft. They start in the bathtub because Jace realizes he hasn't cleaned up from Sissy yet.
| |
− |
| |
− | ''The Hunters Moon''
| |
− | * Aedia has already made arrangements for the three pups to be watched over for the full moon. Warner will be in his loft with Thomas, Vanya Simonson, and Victor Sutherland. Henry will be in the empty library vault with Aedia and Orlando, and Stella will be in a ranger's station with Desmond Lancaster and Martin Dane.
| |
− | * Warner's full moon is going fairly well until Danny Marin, the last of Warner's crew to be uninvolved in the werewolf conspiracy, shows up on the scene. He's indignant when Thomas tries to bar him at the door with the excuse that Warner is heinously sick, and his indignation sets off Warner's territoriality. Thomas wastes no time convincing Danny to leave as growls begin to emerge from behind the door. A puzzled Danny does leave, and, unknown to everyone, heads over to ATO to try to hang out with Henry for about the fourth or fifth time, only to find the Henry is as usual unavailable. Poor little hot kid, there's no glee in his life.
| |
− | * Teresa calls Thomas to tell him she's spotted the dean's car unattended on campus. She saw the dean leaving campus by taxi for some strange reason. Thomas reveals the true depth of his skills by overcoming the car's electronic security so definitely that he generates a permanent electronic key for himself. Teresa reveals the true depth of her skills by taking the wheel for a zoom around Astoria.
| |
− | * At the library, Henry settles in for the full moon by playing WoW as a worgen, which is either an example of failed repression or groan-inducing irony. In what is definitely not an example of symbolic irony, Henry locks himself in the library's rare books vault without prompting. Aedia, however, insists that he feel the full moon first, and Sparky is remarkably well-behaved for once, but maybe he's just waiting for Henry to log out of WoW so that he can take his turn playing his human.
| |
− | * Aedia leaves the library to check on Warner, and shortly after, the peace of the full moon night vanishes as a crash echoes from somewhere else in the library. Henry quickly lassoes Sparky into helping and starts to break out of the cage. A howl splits the air.
| |
− | * All of the pups, Elaine included, hear the howl and recognize it as a call to hunt, but not from Aedia. At the ranger station, Stella hears the sounds of struggle outside. When Desmond goes to investigate, a large shape snatches him out of the doorway, and Stella discovers that she has merited an assault by Team Handjob--Miranda Barnes and Harris Clayon--in feral form.
| |
− | * Team Handjob almost brings Stella to her finish, but they're interrupted by Reese Tavis, who syringes the duo with something that knocks them out. With no sign of Desmond or Martin outside, he encourages her to run and strips to assume wolf form. Stella decides to explore her canine nature more fully by assuming the form of the legendary Buster the Wolf. Alice is also on the scene and tries to snatch Stella, but she dodges and charges toward campus. Alice sheds her clothing and stands nude for a moment (you're welcome, straights) before also assuming wolf form and pursuing. She's hampered, however, by Reesewolf and loses Stella.
| |
− | * Elaine, who had been reading the books she secretly stole, heads to campus to investigate the howl. On the way, she is almost run off the road by a barely under control dean's car. She arrives on campus just in time to see Orlando come spilling out of the library while fighting Donaldo. Orlando manages to tell Elaine to get to the library's vault to help Henry before Donaldo, the Mountain wolf, smashes his head into the pavement.
| |
− | * As Elaine rushes into the library, she finally breaks utterly with reality, feeling the chill of the grave pass over her as her eyes turn black and talons erupt from her fingers. Her descent into madness is so complete that even Henry sees her transformed when she arrives to help him out of the vault.
| |
− | * By the time they get back outside, they find Orlando motionless on the ground with blood spreading everywhere while a newly arrived Victor fights Donaldo. Henry joins the fight while Elaine gets her crossbow out of the car. After taking a shot at Donaldo, Elaine decides that this is the perfect time to use test subject Henry as a scratching post for her new talons. They work remarkably well against Henries. Although the trio manage to drive Donaldo away, Victor is badly injured and Orlando confirmed dead.
| |
− | * Oblivious to all the turmoil elsewhere, Jace has spent the early evening running errands. He brings Ares back to his new loft and on the way back stops at last night's warehouse party site to survey the damage. He salvages a few bottles of alcohol and is drinking back at the loft when a text comes in from Warner's phone. It proves to be Jerome, who says he and Warner need help and somewhere to go. Jace directs them to the ATO house and texts Thomas to meet him.
| |
− | * Teresa and Thomas are not too far away, so they swing by to pick Jace up. Jace is angry to see them in the dean's car, but he puts that aside for the moment to get to campus. Teresa almost hits Jerome and Warner once they get there, and in swerving to avoid them, she flips the car completely and smashes against a building. Teresa and Thomas are horrendously injured as the front half of the car crumbles, and only Jace is vaguely conscious. With a lot of effort, he manages to work himself free of the wreck, but not before crawling over Teresa's ruined body.
| |
− | * Jerome rips the wreck apart to get to Teresa and Thomas as the sound of sirens quickly approaching fills the air. Stella, Henry, Elaine, and Victor converge near the accident just as Volk Yuriev's howl of victory cuts through all the tumult from the ridge above campus.

| |
− | ''Monday, October 29th. Very early''
| |
− | <<Write Up Pending>>
| |
− |
| |
− | ===Session Twelve: 1/7/2015===
| |
− | ''The Week of Monday, October 29th - Friday, November 2nd''
| |
− | * Thomas Michael Craig awakens in the hospital after passing in and out of lucidity. The bite that Alice gave him the night before hasn't healed, and a nurse realizes that this is a new injury. She questions how he was bitten, but Thomas convinces her he has no idea. She asks Thomas if he's friends with the Astoria Serial Biter Henry Mulgrew, and because he is, she brings in a doctor to question him further.
| |
− | * Dr. Elaine Litchfield, Stella Jalo, and Warner Pelt have retired to the House of Running Water to rest after spending all night in the hospital. Later in the day, they join Vanya Simonson and Desmond Lancaster to discuss the pack's plans for the future. Victor Sutherland is also there, but he's still recovering from being torn up by Donaldo the night before. Vanya reveals that she was once part of Volk Yuriev's pack, and based her experiences with him, she suggests the pack should leave Astoria. Desmond, however, counters that he is determined to stay and fight, even if it means fighting alone.
| |
− | * Stella, for her part, announces that she will stay in Astoria as well, and she is torn by guilt that Volk told her the entire pack would die if they stay in Astoria, and she didn't tell anyone. But that's about item #27 on her guilt list.
| |
− | * Vanya explains that there are traditions many werewolves follow, and Volk is especially conservative in this regard. He's unlikely to attack again until the next full moon because of this. She also mentions werewolf secret societies organized around lodges as loose governing bodies. She suspects Volk is part of a lodge but knows nothing definite.
| |
− | * The pack eventually arrives at the question of what to do with captive Reese Tavis. They question him about this motives, and he tells them that after Amarissa Randall was killed, the Astoria pack was scattered. Volk's pack hunted and caught Reese, who had no idea whether any of the rest of the pack was still alive. He gave into fear and cooperated with Volk, who promised to allow Reese to attend school at the U of A as long as he spied on his former packmates.
| |
− | * Eventually, though, Reese couldn't remain complicit in all the harm the Coast Range pack was perpetuating, which led to him knocking out the Handjob Twins to save Stella. Now, Volk will kill him for his betrayal. Victor refuses to participate in deciding Reese's fate, and the pack ends up shelving the matter for the time being.
| |
− | * Jerome Tate, who is also hanging around the house, shares with the pack his experiences with Volk. He would turn his pups feral and force them to fight one another to learn power and control. Jerome still doesn't have complete control over his wolf, but he wants to return to school.
| |
− | * Back at the hospital, Henry is still in treatment for his infection, which gives the police an opportunity to approach the Astoria Serial Biter for a mold of his canines. To prove he didn't bite Thomas, of course. But it is on file now . . .
| |
− | * Thomas's family remains in town while he's in the hospital, and his parents are keen to remove him from school to take him home. Thomas's grandfather, George Michael Thurgood, intercedes, however, convincing them to let him stay in Astoria. After the parents leave, George reveals to Thomas that Teresa died the night before. The hospital has not provided enough painkillers to deal with this.
| |
− | * When Warner returns to his loft with Vanya, he finds a text from Jace Evans on his phone demanding to talk to him right away. When he returns the text, Jace asks him to come to his loft. Vanya wants to come with him, but wary of Jace's reaction to uninvited guests, Warner tells her he should go first. Warner is surprised by Jace's three story loft, but Jace points out that Warner knows the lucrative business Jace is involved in. He also tells Warner that as far as he's concerned, Jace's parents are paying for the loft, however.
| |
− | * As it turns out, Jace only wanted to talk to Warner to get connected to the real werewolves, so he summons Vanya over. In the meantime, Jace offers Warner his hospitality and a dog treat. He also introduces Warner to Ares. Vanya has a slightly different take on the loft when she arrives, observing that Dean Tessa Edmonton's smell is everywhere. She also doesn't believe Jace's lie that the dean was only there to turn over the keys because she owns the building.
| |
− | * Although Jace is somewhat angered by her presumption, he tells Vanya that he and Aedia had agreed before she died to give Jace the bite in exchange for his presence in the pack. He intends to keep that agreement and demands to start learning the ways of werewolves immediately. Bemused, Vanya takes him to the werehouse in the woods to start training.
| |
− | * Jerome and Renee McDonnall visit Henry in the hospital. While Renee is out of the room, Henry has an awkward conversation with Jerome reminding him that Henry will tell Renee everything because she's too involved in the situation. And he does just that when she returns, probably oversharing once he gets to the point of pissing outside her window and coming out as a cub bottom. Apparently, once Henry learns a lesson, he learns it hard. To her credit, Renee is still conscious, sane, and calm by the end of Henry's revelations. She's not even particularly phased by Jerome's confession that being near her helps keep his wolf under control. And she even knows this is not euphemistic in any way!
| |
− | * Henry concludes by sending Renee to Elaine to get armed, and even that Renee acccepts. This girl will likely be an asset to the pack.
| |
− | * Out at the House of Running Waters, Jace notices a whiteboard Elaine has put together planning out her werewolf weapons and reveals that he has access to Davis Monk's arsenal. Desmond questions how he has this access, and Jace reluctantly reveals that he is involved with the on the downlow Davis. Nevertheless, Jace, Elaine, Desmond, and Warner head to campus to raid Davis's weapons locker, coming away with an array that Elaine immediately sets to studying. She also shares some of it with Renee during her office hours. This probably breaks a few university rules.
| |
− | * Over at the hospital, Stella is hanging out with Thomas's family when he is finally released from care. While his parents want to take Thomas to George's house for a week, Thomas refuses and returns to campus instead. Teresa's adjoining dorm room hasn't been packed yet, so after awhile, Thomas starts to do so, but not before completely trashing his own room.
| |
− | * Detective Devin Matthews calls Thomas to let him know that Teresa's funeral will be held in two days. Before Thomas can do any damage to anything else (thank god Alice's bite never kicked in?), Warner and Jerome show up with pizza.
| |
− | * When Thomas later takes Teresa's stuff home, he drops it on her mother's porch, unable to bring himself to knock on the door. After standing indecisively for a while, Juanita Cantu opens her door to wrap Thomas in a hug. They break down together.
| |
− | * Most of the pack attends Teresa's funeral, held on a rainy Oregon winter day. Later that night, the pack mourns its own losses with a pyre to Aedia Randall, Orlando Guerra, and Martin Dane.
| |
