Background

Martin and Axios met shortly after Axios came into possession of the Cartwright House. A mansion like the Cartwright in that neighborhood was sure to attract more than its fair share of burglars and thieves, especially once everyone thought that it was abandoned. Everyone had heard about the death of the Cartwrights, and figured no one lived there anymore.

Martin was quite surprised to discover Axios there, disheveled and unshaven. Axios reacted to the intrusion quite poorly, resorting to quite vulgar, harmful magic - which was unphased by Martin's presence. Nearly too late, Axios realized that the burglar he'd just nearly killed was a Sleepwalker, and he nursed the man back to health, offering him a job.

Now Martin works for Axios, and he's a quick learner, figuring out the nuances of playing a servant while things are going on. He knows that the world is a little weirder than he ever though - magic being real is just the start of what he's seen since coming to live at the Cartwright House - but he also knows he's got a pretty good deal. He has more than once acted as Axios' eyes and ears on the street.
