Chapter Three: The Third Year

Descending Air, RY 769

• Silk sends the Illuminated out into the Vale to investigate methods of helping the people and executing their plans. After visiting the various locales in the valley they devise a plan and get to work. Dolorous Distich establishes a school and works with Starfish to device plans for a tower of the dead to be built in the over capacity graveyard. Sun's Red Hand works with the locals and pull them together to create a united government with a plan to evolve and grow the government over time. Starfish drafts plans for and leads a crew of volunteers to build a second lift for The Watch, an enchanted mill capable of processing a variety of substances and starts work on an aqueduct system for the vale. Kyrra ventures out into the wilds to investigate a problematic beast, tracks the creature and instead of slaying it as the rangers had suspected, befriends it instead and leads it back to the Vale as her new companion.

Resplendent Water, RY 769

• The Illuminated take a break from the designs to improve the Vale in order to undergo a mission from Silk. They travel west to Zalvenesh where a gathering of buyers are congregating after the local salvagers had pulled a massive orichalcum artifact suspect to have been part of a Fist Age vehicle. The Illuminated are sent to investigate the settlement of Salt & Ice in Zalvenesh and it's people, to establish a cell while there and to potentially purchase the artifact.
• The Illuminated travel quickly through the use of Dolorous Distich's sorcery as he summons up a flying chariot to carry them to the outskirts of Salt & Ice. On the way there, they spot a figure fallen in the snow, but are unable to stop due to the nature of the sorcery transporting them. Sun's Red Hand marks her location with a flare arrow, Starfish does a quick glance diagnosis of her condition and Dolorous Distich calls down the power of the gods to heal her, hoping that it will help her last until he is able to return to render further aid. Once they land near Zalvenesh, most of the party continue to the village, while Dolorous Distich summons up another chariot and travels to where they had spotted the fallen figure.
• While Dolorous is away the other three investigate the settlement and find little of interest going on that late in the day, so they go and claim their room at the closest approximation to an inn. Their hostess, Fire's Daughter, provides them with food and drink and converses with them, giving them a basic rundown on the area and people.
• Dolorous Distich finds the fallen figure not far from where they had seen her before. Her name is Rose Crane, an elderly woman who is making her journey to the White Hills where many of the elderly attempt to reach, though many perish on the trek as she would have. Dolorous does his best to talk her into embracing life, but she insists that her time has gone and that all she truly wishes is to journey to the White Hills to serve out the remainder of her days as is proper. Dolorous Distich summons forth his chariot and takes her safely to the White Hills. She advises him to seek out Luminous Sea when he returns to Salt & Ice.
• Dolorous rejoins with his companions in Salt & Ice and they turn in for the night.
• The next morning they set out into the settlement, Dolorous Distich and Starfish seek out Luminous Sea, while Sun's Red Hand and Kyrra go to investigate the ships and potential buyers at the settlement.
• Dolorous and Starfish meet with Luminous Sea at the shrine of his goddess Kind Fin Mother. Dolorous and Luminous Sea speak of a great many things, including Rose Crane, Kind Fin Mother, the rites of death that transforms the Zalvenesh into their cousins, the dolphins vs. the trek to the White Hills. Starfish entertains himself in the background by making improvements and ornamentation to the otherwise simple shrine & makes a generous donation to the shrine as they depart. The two do a little bit of shopping afterwards.
• Sun's Red Hand and Kyrra find that in addition to the expected Guild ship, there is a ship belonging to <dragon bitch> and her whole entourage of demons and minions, an airship from the <Silver & Firefly's organization> as well as <the other woman - I'll get these details from you later>. They learn that Crystaline Pride Triumphant is hosting a dinner party before the bidding for those interested in buying the artifact that they had found that night and puts his name down on the roster.
• The Illuminated reconvene and share what they had discovered. They prepare themselves and go together as a group to attend the dinner party and bidding for the artifact.
