A House of landed knights who owe their fealty to House Swann, House Lohaq was founded by a knighted Lyseni sell-sword. The notorious Ahdas Lohaq came into the service of House Swann when Lord Howlun Swann returned from a trip to Lys with a new bride. It wasn't until Robert's Rebellion, however, that the man's service was recognized with a knighthood and lands. As a result, he isn't the most popular of Lord Swann's knights - there are those who've been sworn to the House longer, and many hate to see Westerosi lordships given over to those from across the Narrow Sea.

Domains

  • House Fortune: Law -2; Food Agriculture +1; +1 to Wealth increases; -1 from Law, Population or Wealth decreases.

Waybridge

A strategically important point in the Marchwater Vale, Waybridge is a crossing point between the Marchwater Road heading north-and-south, and the Waystorm Stream, which flows out of the Marches to feed the Marchwater. A bit further down towards the river stands an old set of ruins, a hill-fort of the First Men. (Lands: Plains; Grasslands, Road, Stream, Ruins)

  • Waybridge Keep: The keep itself is fairly small, as far as such things go, but is a bridge itself. The whole of the keep is built spanning the Waystorm Stream at a ford, with its central courtyard acting as the bridge that passes over the waters. (Defense: 20 pts)
  • Tolls: Wealth Holding. Part of House Lohaq's operations at Waybridge is the collection of road-tolls. (Wealth: 5 pts)
  • The Waybridge Mills: Food Agriculture + Mills Wealth Holding. The estates around the domains primarily produce extensive rye and wheat. In several of these estates along the river, there are the massive Waybridge Mills, which use the flowing river for their power. (Wealth: 10 pts)

Members of the House

  • Ser Ahdas Lohaq: Master of the House. Originally a sellsword who swore service to Lord Gulian Swann during Robert's Rebellion, Ahdas Lohaq was knighted and given lands in Swann's service. He has since married a Westerosi woman and fathered a family. Ahdas is in his mid-50s and has the pale hair and violet eyes that mark him of Valyrian blood. He has managed to eradicate nearly every trace of an accent, and quite enjoys the life of a landed knight. (54 years)
  • Myriam Lohaq: Mistress of the House. The daughter of one of Lord Gulian's knights, Myriam happily wed the dashing foreigner Ahdas when he asked for her hand. In her early 40s, she has borne several children and quite successfully sees to the daily administration of Highgarde. (43 years)
  • Ser Joshen Lohaq: A handsome blonde knight with the best features of his parents, Ser Joshen is a knight in Lord Renly's service. He has gained something of a reputation as a rake, and there are even whispers that he might occasionally dally with men - a reputation that doesn't bother his worldly father. (20 years)
  • Naerys Lohaq: A pale Valyrian beauty of sixteen years, Naerys would like nothing better than to serve as lady's maid for some highborn noble, but neither House Swann nor Baratheon have women in their households that are in need of such. Naerys takes great delight in the way her beauty turns heads, but hopes to avoid marriage for a while yet. (16 years)
  • Symeon Lohaq: Promising to be just as handsome as his older brother, Symeon is a squire in the service of Ser Avery Grandison, one of the knights of House Swann. He is clever and quick-witted, although not particularly skilled in arms. (13 years)
  • Ser Govann Hale: Once one of the household knights of Lord Swann, Ser Govann is in his sixties now, and bears the ailments that often come to plague fighting men should they survive to their twilight years. Ser Ahdas insisted that Govann come and live with them when it became clear he couldn't serve any longer, citing an insistence that his daughter and grandchildren needed him nearby. Ser Govann is lovingly referred to as "Grandser" by his grandchildren, which delights him to no end. Though his armor has long since been hung up, he still carries his sword buckled at his belt, even as he walks around with his cane. (64 years)

Retainers of the House

  • Mikkel Hasty: Ser Ahdas' squire, a son of House Hasty. (18 years)
