Weapons: Dorsal-mounted light laser cannon
|
Easily one of the most common freighters at work in the galaxy, the Barloz is not particularly maneuverable or well-armed. It does have decent cargo capacity, reliable engines, and a durable hull – all features enough to warrant its purchase by anyone needing reliable shipping vessels. Though eclipsed in shipping in recent years by CEC's YT- and YV-series vessels, the Barloz has become popular in an unexpected arena: planetary defense. Used as a military transport or long-range refueling ship, it is frequently accompanied by fighters in those functions.

Weapons: Dorsal auto-blasters, outrigger turret-mounted light blaster cannon, ventral wing-mounted light blaster cannon
|
Already considered an antique at the outset of the Clone Wars, the Rigger is a small, unremarkable craft seems more speeder truck than starship. Designed with a ventral and starboard set of stabilizer spars, the forward third of this vessel contains the flight deck, engineering deck, and crew quarters on two spartan decks. The rest of the ship is given over to a single large cargo hold accessed by a large aft-loading ramp.

Marketed to wealthy, high-profile clients such as powerful interstellar shipping conglomerates and planetary governments, the HWK-290s are light, fast, agile craft designed for speed and comfort rather than heavy lifting. Handsome vessels with lean, angular hulls, and narrow, deeply tinted viewports that make them look fast and aggressive. HWK-290s are best fit for courier work and transportation of small, highly valuable cargoes.

Among the oldest ships still plying the spacelanes, the YG-4210 was built as a deep-space exploration vessel two hundred years ago or so. Most of the line has given in to the ravages of time or violence, but the few that remain tend to be in the hands of smugglers and small-time independent traders.

|
The first of Corellian Engineering's ships to actually win favor across the galaxy, the YT-1000 is considered the iconic Corellian vessel, even as hopelessly outdated as it is today. Its two-seat cockpit flanked by cargo-loading mandibles, with midships spars, corridors, quarters, and escape pods are all such a part of engineering history that many engineers have to consciously make themselves not emulate them by default.

Weapons: One ventral turret-mounted twin light laser cannon
|
Though designed to innovate on the YT-1000, the YT-1200 fell well short of its predecessor in a number of important areas. The YT-1200 was seen as not enough of its own ship to be really distinguished from the YT-1000. Customers also reported the engines weren't powerful enough, the internal systems were buggy, and the stock power generators were prone to power surges and short circuits. Ultimately, it was refit into later designs, but YT-1200s are still out there, many fo them having been refit and upgraded by their owners.

Designed as a model to excite Corellian interest, the 1210 is faster than its precedessor the 1200. With an added engine and reduced cargo space as a result, the 1210's only real benefit is the uptick in speed...but that's enough for some freight captains, smugglers, and pirates.

|
Easily the most common light freighter in use in the galaxy, the YT-1300 is quick, rugged, and endlessly modifiable. A saucer body with a variety of modular compartments, two cargo mandibles extending from the bow and the Corellian Engineering trademark offset cockpit, this vessel is almost impossible to find in its original manufactured default configuration.

An in-line cockpit and distinctive CEC saucer shape gives the YT-2000 a pleasingly symmetrical shape, and its improved armaments, upgraded maneuverability, and increased cargo capacity certainly has made it popular among free traders. Unfortunately industrial espionage resulted in the vessel being rushed to market, leaving it with buggy avionics and component integration issues, making it somewhat of a maintenance headache.

An update of the YT-1300, the YT-2400 is slightly smaller but significantly more powerful in nearly every way. The saucer-shaped hull has a central core surrounded by cargo and passenger modules, with a starboard-mounted cockpit connected to the main hull by a pair of reinforced pylons, with its own access hatch and crew escape pod. Though a freighter, it does a good impression of a fighting vessel, with military grade armor, heavy shields, room for larger reactor and ion drives, and a number of dedicated weapon hardpoints.

Designed with planetary exploration in mind, the YV-560 is intended to provide explorers and archaeologists with a base for their on-site explorations. Though classified as a freighter, the vessel was built to carry delicate cargoes, samples, and artifacts of the sort unearthed by scientists. The YV-560's holds are smaller and environmentally compartmentalized, airtight, and lockable, plus they can be sealed and walled off behind bulkheads in case of emergency. The ship also has an integrated scientific computer meant to aid in data analysis with terminals in common area and passenger berths, as well as a high-precision planetary scanning array.

|
Weapons: Dorsal retractable quad laser cannon turret, forward-mounted twin light laser cannon
|
Slab-sided and imposing, the YV-666 has a reputation as a steady, durable, easy-to-fly freighter that can withstand incredible amounts of hard usage. The ship's cargo is quite spacious and boasts modular, environmentally-sealed holds. The ship has three interior decks and no viewports. Even the cockpit boasts a high-profile holoprojector interface to give the pilot a 180º view of the ship's exterior. While not designed for frontline combat, its weapons are enough to give most pirates and shipjackers pause.

|
Designed as an armed transport, the YV-929 is bulky and heavy armed and armored, capable of operating in hostile portions of the galaxy without an escort. The "flying brick" has proven popular with private military companies, high-risk cargo services, "independent security professionals," and even the Rebel Alliance, who use it as a blockade runner and gunboat.

A long segmented vessel with a cockpit section connected to a larger cargo hold and engine housing by a narrow neck, the Gymsnor series of vessels never quite managed to compete with the CEC YT-series as intended. That said, customers did like the ability of the cockpit to detach from the rest of the vehicle as its own escape pod in the event of an emergency. Though adequate for shipping cargo, it handles poorly and has a large defensive blind spot to the aft of the vessel.

The last starship designed and produced before Gallofree shuttered, the corporation's liquidation meant that many of these brand-new vessels found their way into liquidation markets where they were snatched up by free traders, smugglers, and pirates. A reliable and well-armed vessel, it doesn't quite have the same cargo capacity as many other light freighters, its excellent design more than makes up for that.

Offered as a tough ship for fringers and independent captains, the 720's two main cargo holds take up the majority of the port and starboard midships space. Between the bridge-flanking nacelles that hold the 720's ion engines and the angled, after-mounted escape pod housings, the freighter has a distinctively turtle-like silhouette. Heavily armored but weakly shielded, the 720's main weakness as a fringe freighter is its low-impact weaponry (though many an owner has upgraded past this flaw).

Known for ruggedness and reliability. Forward hull houses the bridge and living quarters for a three-person crew, with more cabins behind for passengers. Quite heavily armored for a ship of this size and class, and equipped with military-grade shields, Citadels have gained a reputation for beng able to absorb incredible amounts of punishment and still deliver passengers and cargo safely. Typically classed as passenger-carriers, their weapons and ability to mount external clamps to carry two starfighters have seen them used as fighting ships, particularly in the hands of freebooters and pirates.

One of the more popular vessels to come out of the Mon Calamari Shipyards, the Simiyar-class is a lovely vessel that shows all the hallmarks of the smooth-edged, organic-seeming engineering of the famous shipyard. The Simiyar is a fast, low-slung, single-deck vessel with the entire forward third given over to cargo space. Midships contain crew and passenger berthing and common areas, and the access to a small, two-person command deck. A heavily armed and armored patrol craft and gunboat. Though originally designed for the Imperial Navy, it didn't fit into the Empire's typical order of battle, which tends to eschew heavy, multi-crewed fighters. It has gained a loyal following among planetary defense forces, as well as various corporate, mercenary, and pirate fleets, as they are deadly and competent patrol and anti-shipping vessels, capable of threatening ships many times their size.

Designed as a long-range scout and courier vessel in the final years of the Old Republic, the Pathfinder has a reputation as a high-tech ship thanks to its powerful sensor suite and its hyperspace capabilities. Essentially an oversized starfighter, Pathfinders carry two sentients seated abreast in a small, cramped, but well laid-out cockpit. Abaft the cockpit is a small area with refresher, bunk, and small storage area for provisions, tools, and emergency supplies. It is lightly armed and armored, with uniquely powerful shield generators for their class of ship.

With large wings that swing upward when landed, the Kom'rk have a rear-mounted access hatch from which jetpack-wearing Death Watch commandos frequently deployed mid-air. Heavily armored and moderately shielded with weapons that point both fore and aft, this fighter has seen some interest from customers in the wake of Death Watch's dissolution.

The final word in luxury VIP transportation, each Luxury 3000 is built from the keel up to the user's specifications. This allows them to be used for the myriad purposes some buyers have put them to, from shuttling important government officials to mobile offices for power corporate or guild figures to extravagant party vessels. The ship's hull is long and narrow, with a forward command deck. Passengers are carried in luxurious quarters abaft the command deck that contain a grand dining cabin, a single VIP suite, a recreation center, and observation deck, and a number of small but well-appointed passenger cabins. The cost listed is for the baseline ship's frame and mechanics, before any interior spaces, which can result in a cost many times that.
