The School Lifestyle

Individual Lifestyles

For the owners, operators, and myriad hangers-on, School provides the following Lifestyle details. Each character may spend the 2 Points below to either increase their personal Comforts & Necessities or to invest in Entertainment options.

  • Comforts & Necessities: 1 (2)
  • Security: 2
  • Neighborhood: 1
  • Points: 2
  • Cost: 500¥

Communal Business Lifestyle

Nightspot

Cost: 10,000¥ per month (for up to 10 people)

  • Booze: You have access to alcohol - some of it even real - well in excess of your actual Comforts & Necessities rating. When treating someone of Low or lower Lifestyle to a drink as part of your social efforts, increase your Social Limit by 1.
  • Contacts: You have a pool of 12 Karma worth of additional Contacts, created by the group, who are useful people to know who are either regular customers or business partners of the establishment.
  • Employees: You have a pool of 8 Karma worth of Contacts with rating 0 Connections. These points may only be used to buy Loyalty, and should be used to fill out the roster of the establishment's employees. They have the skills necessary to do their jobs, and little else.
  • Income: Each month, this establishment earns money, ideally covering all its costs and leaving some profit.
    • The one running the business gains the equivalent of the Day Job Negative Quality, for a value of 20 hours a week, though they cannot be fired.
    • Their effectiveness is determined by a single Charisma + Etiquette [Social Limit + Business Reputation] test, with a Threshold of [6 - Neighborhood rating], with each hit beyond the Threshold reducing the Cost of the establishment by 1000¥.
    • You may also expend hits equal to the current Reputation of the establishment to increase that Reputation by 1, reflecting the spending of money to get people to talk about your place. This can only be done once per three months.
    • You may also sacrifice a point of Reputation, turning it into a number of hits equal to its rating, to be applied to this test instead, reflecting a willingness to cut corners and do whatever it takes to make a yen, even though it hurts your establishment's rep.
    • The one running the establishment can gain assistance from other characters, who are each treated as though they had the Day Job Negative Quality at a value of 10 hours a week, with their rolls determined by the nature of their contributions, but using the same Threshold, with hits adding dice to the business operator's test (to a maximum of doubling his test dice).
  • Business Reputation: Your establishment has a Reputation rating. This starts out as a 0, which is obscurity.
    • This can increase to positive numbers, reflecting a well-regarded establishment, or to negative numbers, reflecting one generally held in fear or contempt.
    • This also serves as the effective Reputation of any character who enters a social situation as a representative of the business in question.
    • Business Reputation also directly modifies the Limit of the Income test each month.
  • Space: You have a great deal more space than your Comforts & Necessities would otherwise indicate. In addition to the large areas necessary for the establishment's operation, you have storage areas and ample living space as well (approximately double what you would usually have ordinarily).

Recording Studio

Cost: 4000¥ per month (for up to 4 people)

  • Contacts: You have a pool of 8 Karma worth of additional Contacts, created by the group, who are useful people to know in some way tied to the operation of the studio.
  • Equipment: You have the hardware and software necessary to properly record and mix music.
  • Income: Each month, this establishment earns money, ideally covering all its costs and leaving some profit.
    • The one running the business gains the equivalent of the Day Job Negative Quality, for a value of 20 hours a week, though they cannot be fired.

  • Space: You have access to more space than your Comforts & Necessities would otherwise indicate, having a recording booth and a technical booth.
