Mercenaries often adapt the vessel to their specifications as well, as does the Rebel Alliance, who tend to configure the vessel as a starfighter carrier when Mon Calamari vessels are unavailable.

As with many of the Mon Calamari ships that have been refitted for Rebel use, the MC30c began as a small city-ship. Redesigned as a high-speed attack frigate, the MC30c is capable of inflicting heavy damage on enemy ships in a short amount of time. Though it has very light armor, the ship is equipped with a powerful defense shield. Like most Mon Calamari ships, the MC30c is capable of being sumerged in water and operating normally; it is also common to find it filled with water rather than atmosphere when in service to Mon Cala crews.
