Cabal Heraldry consists of the following elements, arranged in whatever form the cabal finds most pleasing. These insignias are often made up onto banners, which are displayed at Consilium gatherings to reflect the official presence of that cabal.

  • Emblem: Symbolic logo or crest. These are often heraldic or totemic animals or some other iconic representation of what the cabal holds important.
  • Honoraries: A symbol that represents a member of the cabal; these are scattered through the full banner sigil, one per cabal member. This could be a star, a candle-flame, a diamond - any single, simple symbol that is repeated multiple times, once for each cabalmate.
  • Order: Symbols for the orders of the cabal, with lesser represented orders arranged beneath the main one, or equal display of order sigils for multi-order cabals. These are usually the main insignia of each of the Orders, or some other stylized representation thereof (a scepter for Silver Ladder, a knife for Guardians of the Veil, etc)
  • Colors: Using aura hues, represent the past and founding of the cabal. In many ways, the colors used by the cabal represent what it's been through and why it was founded.
  • Great Rights: These are standardized symbols among the Pentacle Orders displayed beneath the emblem – crossroads (Crossing), scroll (Emeritus), chalice (Hospitality), sword (Nemesis) and shield (Sanctuary). Though the symbol itself is standardized, the actual design of it is not - one banner may show a katana, another a rapier and another an art-deco stylized sword, but all mean their respective cabals acknowledge the Right of Nemesis.
  • Arch: Like the Great Rights, the symbols of the Arch are standardized, but without established stylization, and displayed in a half-circle above the emblem – skull (defeating enemy), book (reclaiming knowledge), scales (meting justice), torch/lantern (leading others to enlightenment), mace (Sentinel in cabal), horse (Herald), crossed staves (Provost), tree branch (Councilor), ring (Hierarch).
  • Motto: Representative motto. Often written in Latin, Greek or any other language and alphabet set appropriate to the cabal.
  • Sigil: The sigil is an energetic pattern, crafted with the Prime Arcanum and attached to places, people, and objects to warn other magi that whatever it is is considered claimed by that cabal. In many Consiliums, a cabal is forbidden from sigiling anything they have not declared as a Holding before the Consilium.
