Character Creation
- We are using: three core rulebooks, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, select Unearthed Arcana PDFs (notably the Rangers Revised), select DM's Guide resources (notably Solve et Coagula, Clerics of Lesser Domains, Faiths of Faerun, Additional Archetypes, Roadside Backgrounds, and several other individual archetypes)
- Standard point buy for abilities.
- Characters start at 5th level.
- Characters receive full hit points through 3rd level.
- Characters begin with magic items: 4 common items, 2 uncommon items, 1 rare item.
- Any of these may be "cashed in" for three exhaustible items of that same rarity (potions, scrolls, etc).
- Common items may also be "cashed in" to place minor magical properties (see charts at the beginning of the section on magic items, DMG) onto higher-powered items, or onto otherwise mundane items.
