Zethas

Background

Grew up in the Empyrean Court, in the Empyros district of the Court/Liminal.
Never knew his father, and his mother (a temple servant in the temple of Elbitara) was always treated with compassionate pity by the other deva in Empyros. Zethas himself was treated warily and with fear, which the other children of Empyros picked up and tormented him.
Eventually ended up spending lots of time alone, eventually making up an imaginary friend for himself.
Was being beaten up in his adolescence when his devilish aspect manifested, terrifying everyone. He was forced to flee Empyros and ended up living in Hellsward.
It was there that his imaginary friend revealed that he wasn't so imaginary: he was the god Makoryn, and he had a plan for the young devil-touched deva. He invested him with part of his power and sent him to the temple called the Iron Gaol to learn more about using that power.
His mentor is the priestess of Makoryn Atera Wynn, although she also seems a little afraid of him sometimes.
Zethas experiences strange dreams occasionally, dreams sent by Makoryn that reveal to him the next steps the god of tyranny has planned for him.

The Nightmare Bringer: Your dreams have revealed one who must die by your hand: the Nightmare Bringer. You do not know her face, nor anything about you, save that she lays worms in the skulls of those she dominates. Her domination is impure and anathema to Makoryn. Your first step is simple: go to the Rose & Thorn Inn, and find a small group of those who are new to Liminal. They will eventually find her; you only have to be there when they do.

Making the following Skill checks regarding Zethas reveals the following information about him.

DC 25: Zethas has demonstrated some strange abilities and weird manifestations that can only truly be one thing: the taint of the infernal in his bloodline. You have reason to suspect he may be born of the union of a deva and a devil or demon. Which is impossible.

DC 20: From his knowledge of the city's intricacies and his distinct accent, Zethas had to have been raised in Liminal. Given that he's a deva, there is an extremely good chance that he grew up among the devas of the Empyros district...or possibly even in the Empyrean Court itself, the other-planar city imbricate with Empyros that is the gateway realm to the Great Heavens themselves.
DC 30: Because his appearance deviates slightly from that of other devas, you've heard of him: the Devil Child of Empyros. His mother, a deva, is said to have lain with a devil of the Hellsward, leaving their child half-infernal.

DC 15: Like tieflings, devas are touched by the servants in the gods in their lineal past. Unlike tieflings, they have angels in their ancestry. The blood of devas breeds true - even a trace of deva blood in one of the parents will result in the birth of a deva child.
DC 30: Because his appearance deviates slightly from that of other devas, you've heard of him: the Devil Child of Empyros. His mother, a deva, is said to have lain with a devil of the Hellsward, leaving their child half-infernal.

DC 15: Though he clearly knows the streets and the dangers they hold well, it's obviously learned behavior, meaning he likely didn't grow up on the streets.
