Mentor (• to •••••)

Effect: Each dot in Mentor grants one or more topics being learned by the apprentice: a single Attribute, a single Arcanum, two Skills, two Merits or one Skill and one Merit. Rating in Mentor also determines how frequently training scenes occur. Each game where a training scene occurs gains the character +1 XP, to be applied only to those categories being taught. Finally, each level also gives a maximum rating in those traits, as a rough guideline, that the Mentor can teach.

  • Helpful (•): The mentor has some useful information, and fair knowledge of his subject matter (maximum ratings of 3), but can't commit much time to the training. Training scenes happen once every other Episode. Students gain +1 XP per month of downtime that can only be used on the topics the Mentor teaches.
  • Beneficial (••): The mentor knows what he's talking about (maximum ratings of 4), but his time with the student is limited. Training scenes happen once every other Episode. Students gain +1 XP per month of downtime that can only be used on the topics the Mentor teaches.
  • Informative (•••): Not only does the mentor know his topics of mastery (maximum ratings of 4), but he can spare additional time in the training of the student. Training scenes happen once every Episode. Students gain +1 XP per two weeks of downtime that can only be used on the topics the Mentor teaches.
  • Educational (••••): The mentor is a literal master of his subjects of training (maximum ratings of 5), and has some time for the student. Training scenes happen once every Episode. Students gain +1 XP per two weeks of downtime that can only be used on the topics the Mentor teaches.
  • Godsend (•••••): The mentor is rightfully called a master (maximum ratings of 5) and dedicates much of his time to the training of the student. Training scenes happen once twice every Episode. Students gain +1 XP per week of downtime that can only be used on the topics the Mentor teaches.
