Pre-First Game

• To my friends in Sunspear: My dear friends --- As we prepare for our journey to King's Landing, I have found that I have need of your great services once more. As it has been some time since I have acquainted myself with the intricacies of Dornish politics, I am curious as to the allegiance of House Wyl. To whom are they sworn to, and what is their reputation at the Princess' Court? Further, as we are to meet with our dear Princess in a few weeks, it has come to my attention that he holds her dear children close to her heart. I would like to gift them with something. What do the nannies and nursemaids say the children enjoy? I realize this may seem like an odd request, but children are often fickle, and I would like my gift to be something they truly will enjoy.
  • Good Friend: House Wyl is mentioned infrequently at best in court at Sunspear. They are sworn directly to House Martell, and though they have had a reputation as somewhat fractious in the past, Lady Euphemia's stoic attention to duty and willingness to don her husband's armor at his death - despite the fact that she was still nursing her child! - has lent her the nickname of "the Steely Mother". She served as Lady Naerys' personal guard during the War of the Ninepenny Kings, and the two established a close relationship during that time. Though Lady Euphemia has returned to her holdings and does not dabble in politics, Lady Naerys still clearly regards her with fondness.
  • As for the Martell children, understand our need for caution. Any hint of inquisitiveness regarding the heirs is met with strong investigation and quick action. To the best of our gathering, young Prince Doran seems quite adept with spear and shield, having outgrown most toys. He does have a marked enjoyment of books, however, being a studious young man.
    • Character Action With this in mind, Danyk sets out to make his ready for his trip. He will visit market, seeking toys for the young children. For the Elia, he will have a small doll princess made, with a soft gown and a worked brass circlet adorning her head. Both stitched to the doll so that the wont be lost. For Oberyn, he will have a colorful snake made of soft yarn, a perfect cuddle buddy for a toddler.
• To my friends in Sungold: My friends --- With the Houses making ready to sail soon, I am curious how the Lady Amaya will be making her way to the Broken Arm. Will she be taking her own ship, or will she be traveling with her liege? If taking her own ship... when does she plan to depart? What measures has she taken to ensure the security of her House and her ship before and after its scheduled departure? Further, as I have heard of brigands and armed bandits in the Marches... is the township of Sungold adequately protected against this potential threat? What forces has the House established and how effective are they?
  • Wise Friend: The Lady Amaya travels with Lord Edgar Yronwood, as her household is relatively small. We do not know the name of the Yronwood ship, but she rides for Yronwood soon, accompanied by two of the four Yronwood knights that reside here in Sungold. Of Sungold's defenses, there are infantry and warships, neither of terrible skill or experience. But most notable are the unit of cavalry stationed in and around the Sungold mines; these cavalry owe their fealty to House Yronwood, and are commanded by four knights also sworn to Lord Edgar. Bandits and brigands may as well not exist between Yronwood and Sungold, thanks to their efforts.
• To Ser Meribald of the Daytower: Good Ser Meribald --- While I know you shall be making your way to Dawnsport presently, I must request aid, once more, from your loyal House. I have a personal matter with which I have found myself woefully ill equipped to resolve. Your House has a long and proud history of seamanship. I am considering obtaining a small vessel for my own personal use, but know little of such things. The sailors manning your ships have a richly deserved reputation, and I would ask that you may release one to my service indefinitely. I would consider it a great favor, and one that I would soon not forget.
  • To Lord Danyk: Of course. When the time comes, I would be happy to help you determine what ship would be most useful for your own purposes. I have contacts among the shipbuilders in service to House Estermont, who are renowned for their skill throughout the Stormlands for their ships, constructed of the fine woods of the Rainwood.
  • Likewise, I have the perfect fellow to enter into your service. His name is Marys Coaster. He is the second son of a knight in our service, and has grown up not only on the seas, but in service to our House, so there will be no need to instill in him the basic etiquettes you might have to tend to with some other sailor. I shall bid him to prepare to come with us, and he can enter into your service right away. I'll have my steward see that his belongings are sent to Dawn's Point once we have set sail.
  • I look forward to seeing you again, and my younger brother as well. It's been too long since I've seen him ride at tourney.
• A meeting with Lucia: It is mid morning when Danyk lets himself into Lucia's room. When she looks up, his eyes meet hers and he beams a smile. "My Love." he manages in his heavily accented Braavosi. "Though I deeply wish that you accompany me to King's Landing, I know that your work is here." He gaze drifts over to the stack of ledgers stacked neatly next to the small desk. "Something has come to my attention, and I believe that you are best suited to resolve it. The wife of our dear friend and loyal supporter Ser Josian Lukas, Lelya is in need of your... expertise. She deeply loves her husband, yet he does not share in her desire. But if anyone can make a man desire something... it is you my Emerald. I ask that you go to her while we are away, and become a friend to her..." He shows her a copy of the letter he intends to send to Lealgarde.
  • Lucia: "You know too well that I was hoping to see your King's Landing. I wished to see how it measured against the glory of Braavos, and compare your Red Keep to the great Titan. But, you are right - I do have much work, just so. I shall do this, although I have seen her in court, and the task ahead of me is not a small thing. I expect something wonderful from the markets of King's Landing. You should know that you will be competing with Falcone to find me the finest of gifts there. I pray you are up to the task." She chuckles her throaty laugh.
    • Danyk: He smiles. "Of course. I know that you are up to the task, for if anyone knows how to move the heart of a man, it is you. I promise that I shall return to you with a gift that will dazzle you. Further, there will yet be time for us to travel to King's Landing together, and when we do so, you shall enjoy all that the great city has to offer you."
• To Lady Lelya of Lealgarde: My dear Cactus-Flower --- I know that you have chosen to remain behind while your beloved Ser Josian travels with us to the Red Keep. The Steward of our House, the Lady Lucia, will also be remaining behind, and I wonder if you would do my the small favor of entertaining her. As a Braavosi, she is often an outsider in the Castle, and I believe that having another woman to talk to would be much to lift her spirits. I look forward to speaking with you again when we return. -Danyk Deltario
  • Dearest Lord Danyk: It would be a great pleasure to do so! I thank you for thinking of me, for with Josian gone even this small tower seems too big sometimes. I admit, I was hoping to accompany him, to see him ride in the tourney and to visit the great markets held there, but I of course understand the responsibility he invests in me by asking me to remain behind. I shall have the guest quarters prepared for her at once, and look forward to our time together.
    • Danyk's reply: Thank you, my Lady. I know that the Lady Lucia is excited to enjoy your company. I hope that in time, you shall become fast friends, as she has too few.
