A minor House in the southern edges of the Rainwood, House Herston was first founded in the later years of Aegon's Conquest. Their founder was a steward of Aegon's who was responsible for much of the reorganizing of the Stormlands in the wake of war, and he was rewarded for his faithful service with land and keep of his own. House Herston is known to be fairly prosperous, and quite adept at the management of their own Household, so much so that they tend to eschew the contributions of maesters, maintaining that a House that depends on chained scholars to manage their affairs deserve to lose everything.
