Origin

The Lie
Ramas Fezim was born to caravan teamster parents and raised in Mulhorand. He was accepted as an apprentice scribe amongst the Brothers and Sisters of the Quill in Skuld, an organization of the priesthood of Thoth. A wizard-priest of Thoth, Alizir Muhuan approached the order seeking a new apprentice from amongst their ranks and following a series of tests, chose Ramas from amongst the scribes to become his new apprentice.
Alizir eventually left to tend to one of his secretive errands and never returned. Ramas, decided that he wished to travel the world as an agent of the Brothers & Sisters of the Quill in search for lost lore, arcane secrets and the recovery of artifacts stolen from the mulan people.

The Truth
Agaros Thrul, son of Red Wizard Terius of the House of Thrul, was tested and trained as a wizard of Thay. Agaros' nature talents with evocation and fire marked him as being blessed by the Firelord. He was a dutiful son, trying his best to live up to his family's exceedingly high expectations, but their goals were not his own. His mother, Gyasi, was one of his fathers concubines. She would secretly teach her son of the lore of the mulan people, of the Mulhorandi gods and the songs from their lost world that the mulan people had kept alive for generations. He adored his mother and the heritage of his people in the desert. She was of the blood of Tholaunt, those descended from Thoth himself.
Agaros became a full fledged wizard of Thay and received his tattoos noting his family, status, education and specializations. He was to become an agent of the Red Wizards in Thay. His family was far too important to send away on covert missions. His hopes of escaping Thay in this manner were crushed. He accepted his new responsibilities and worked diligently, always seeking just enough approval, but not too much praise to remain unnoticed by his peers.
Everything changed when he returned home one day to find his mother missing. He asked the other concubines what had happened, but they were of no help. His father had come in that morning, had her pack her few belongings and taken her away. Agaros was not supposed to have any sort of attachment to his mother, if their relationship had been discovered, then it put her in great danger. But he had to know what had happened to her. So he asked his father, attempting to make light of it, as just an observation. Suspicious, his father told him that she'd been sold. Her childbearing years had passed and he no longer found her pleasing to look upon, so he felt no need to continue to maintain her. Anger grew within Agaros and when he asked who she was sold to, his father refused to answer and reprimanded his son's insolence with a blow to the face.
Agaros was already far more skilled in magic than his father, and a gifted evoker at that. His anger exploded in flame and ruin. His father, badly burned, surrendered the whereabouts of his mother, cursing her and his birth. Agaros could not bring himself to kill his father, and little as he deserved it, dragged his father from their burning home and left him in the care of the fleeing servants. His mother had been sold to one of the gladiatorial arenas for use as opening ceremony fodder. He entered the arena and found his mother, freed the would-be doomed slaves and fled with her in the confusion, injuring several and killing two guards in the ordeal.
Agaros and Gyasi escaped the city, escaped Thay and fled into the desert until they found their way to Skuld, where Gyasi was reunited with her people. Agaros grew his hair out, hiding the Thayan tattoos that marked him as a member of the Red Wizards and learned to curb his Thayan accent, adopting the dialect of the Mulhorandi. His love of lore, learning and knowledge led him to joined the Brothers and Sisters of the Quill and he dedicated himself to their cause, always hoping to find lost lore of the mulan - hoping to one day discover what had become of their ancient homeland. Eventually he left, traveling west. He wanted to see more of the world, as a free man and not one of the slaves of Thay, for that was what they all were, even the Red Wizards themselves: slaves. He would always have to be cautious. His family, which included his infamous cousin Aznar Thrul, Zulkir of evocation, Tharchion of Priador, had a very long reach. Given their status and position in Thay, they would seek to retrieve him for justice in order to partially salve the damage done to their reputation. His travels and explorations eventually led him to Calimsham.
