In the Shadowfell domain ruled by the Raven Queen, in her capital city of Gauntpeak, stands the Fallen House. Once a grand estate, its original owners were foolish enough to try to rise up against the rule of the Raven Queen. Overnight, a plague of ravens settled into their lands and home, and no one ever emerged from its doors. In the centuries since, the Fallen House has become a school for wizards who would master the talents of magic over death and shadow. The ravens that heralded the fall of the old nobility that dwelt there live there still - as do the undead vestiges of those old nobles, still imprisoned by the Masters of the Fallen House for experimentation into the undead state.

As a wizard of the Fallen House (who are usually called raven magi), you delve into the studies of necromancy and nethermancy (the study of shadows and life-draining darkness). You understand the power of the Shadowfell, and seek to wield it as capably as a fencer with his rapier.

Raven magi often wear elaborate raven masks, the beaks of which are filled with the alchemically-treated herbs that help them prevent sickness in an environment so filled with human and other remains.

Listener of Whispers

Threads of the Abyss

Beginning at 2nd level, you learn to infuse your magical arts with the power that pulses darkly in the heart of the Shadowfell. You may spend a wizard hit die, and roll that die when casting any spell of 1st level or higher that inflicts damage. The result of this roll is added to the spell's damage total. Additionally, if the spell's damage type is anything other than necrotic, it becomes both necrotic and its original damage type; creatures must be resistant to both types of damage to gain the benefit of damage resistance.

Undead Thralls

Beginning at 6th level, add animate dead to your spellbook if you do not already have it. When you cast animate dead, you may target one additional target. The undead created or conjured by spells you cast have their hit point maximums increased by your wizard spell levels, and add your proficiency bonus to their damage weapon rolls.
