The Creed of the Beacon is an ecclesial alliance between and among individual independent temples. It adheres to no single theology, national affiliation, racial or cultural identity, or even divine pantheon.

Requirements of Membership

The requirements for membership in the Creed of the Beacon are as follows:

  • The Solitary Temple. A member temple must be beholden to no other temple or ecclesial organization, and must have no temples or organizations over which it governs. Whomever runs the temple on the local level must be the highest order of organization within that temple.
  • The Seat of the Gods. A member temple must revere one or more true deities. Those that revere local spirits, infernal beings, faery hosts, Primordials, or any number of other entities do not qualify, though the Creed does not take official stance on the worthiness or lack thereof of any such cultus or worship.
  • The Good of the Community. A member temple must operate openly within its community, and must work for the good of that community.
  • The Sodality of Worship. A member temple must not wage war - financial, military, magical, or otherwise - against other religious institutions in their communities. They may defend themselves, however.

Tenets of the Creed

  • A Beacon to the Heavens. Our Creed is dedicated to the worship of the true gods, though it does not discern the best method of doing so. The Creed has no stance on other cults or spiritual traditions, save to comment on the ways in which they impact their communities for good or ill.
  • A Beacon to the Spirit. It is beholden to each individual temple - and to each attendant of each such temple - to determine what is best for their own spirits, and for their relationships with their deities. The individual must adjudge such things, and no Creed temple may speak out against the theology or worship of other temples. This does not prevent individuals from speaking their opinions of such things, but no Creed temple may be used as a platform to discuss such personal views.
  • A Beacon of Civilization. The Creed is dedicated to the peaceful growth and safety of civilization, fostering acceptance, peace, true justice, and love for beauty, art, and culture. Order must serve to exalt the spirit of the individual, and individual creativity and passion should help to foster and build something greater than itself.

Organization

  • The Creed-Council: A council that consists of a single representative of each member temple - the high priest/ess of that temple, or their designated appointee. This is the sole level of organization within the Creed proper; beneath it are the individual member temples, who each determine their own internal hierarchy within themselves.
    • The Chair of the Council: The Chair of the Council will be held by the Marshall of the Beacon-Knights, who has no votes, but does maintain the power of veto, and is primarily responsible for ensuring the Council does not attempt to turn the Creed into a unified pantheon "church" or pass down edicts to member temples that inhibit or interfere with their internal theology.
  • The Knights of the Beacon: The Knights of the Beacon will be the attached force dedicated to preserving and protecting the Creed's membership temples, worshipers, and communities first and foremost, and to defending all others surrounding them as long as doing so does not endanger those in their charge. Knights of the Beacon will be encouraged to serve half the year at the chapterhouse or an affiliated Temple of the Beacon, and the other half out as knights-errant, in groups of three to five Knights, finding wrongs to right and generally keeping tabs on the pulse of the surrounding lands, in order to give the Creed perspective and warning for upcoming events.
