• Advantages •
Benefit: Modruiyya Membership: You are a member of the Modruiyya Sufi Order, sorcerers who study the techniques of sufism as part of their mastery of the arcana associated with the Modrossus trinity.
  • Akhyār (Rank 1): The "excellent ones" of the order are its novices and apprentices, those seeking to understand the Modrossan trinity on a basic level sufficient to even begin study of one of the Holy Ones. Akhyār have not learned any of the order's arcana yet.
  • Abdāl (Rank 2): The "substitutes" are those who have stepped into the place they once occupied in mere excellence, now with enlightenment. These have become sorcerers and are studying one of the three arcana of the Modrossus. Abdāl are the lowest-ranking sorcerers in the order, with training in a few spells of a single arcanum.
  • Abrār (Rank 3): With mastery of their first arcana, the adept is elevated to this status, that of "piously devoted one." They are often called upon to tutor those who are learning the arcanum they have mastered, while also acting as students themselves for a second arcanum.
  • Awtād (Rank 4): With two arcana of the Modrossus mastered, the adept is now called a "pillar" of the order, in pursuit of mastery of a third arcanum. Awtād are frequently asked to act as leader and guardian of one of the order's sanctuaries.
  • Nuqabā (Rank 5): Only those who have mastered all three of the Modrussan arcana are elevated to the rank of "leader". The learning of this stage and the arcana of the Modrossus are said to go on for a lifetime, although those who master it are thought to earn the title qutb, or "axis," a central pivot around which the order revolves.
• Complications •
• Responsibility: Modruiyya xxx

An order of Sufi sorcerers dedicated to the truths of the Modrossus trinity, the Modruiyya consider themselves guardians of the earthly realm and those who are not aware of the sorcerous world. By and large, the Modruiyya remains aloof from the conflicts that rage between sorcerers and their factions, but will place themselves in direct opposition to magical entities who casually endanger common people.

The Modruiyya teach the arcana of Abbridon of the Light, Heshem of the Crossroads, and Lamal the Law-Giver before teaching the arcana of the triune Modrossus. Each initiate chooses the entity from whom they feel they have the most to learn and focus on that arcana until they have mastered it before moving on to others. It is generally agreed that while Modruiyya sorcerers are almost pathologically specialized in their magics, the magics they learn are very potent.

The sect uses an old Arabic maze-motif made up of three interlocking cube-forms as their seal, representative of the twisting path through understanding grace and order that their initiates travel.

High Priestess of the Modrossus
The sorceress Samah is widely regarded as the foremost practitioner of the Modrossan arcana, wielding as she does many of the powerful magical secrets protected by the Modruiyya. It is thought that she is the current leader of the sufi order, although the Modruiyya have put forth "figurehead" leaders before in order to veil the true elders of the sect.
