Founded in the aftermath of House Zarovet's treachery, House Filendus seems to have always lived in the shadow of that ignominy. Still, this has not prevented the small Three-Rivers House from prospering, particularly as their lands are rich in ore, and they boast several mines of iron and silver.
Avissa
Domain: Plains; Large Town, River (Lands 28)
The wide open plains of Avissa are dotted with a number of old wrightfolk barrows, and the mines that inevitably go with them. Combined with the silver mines in the roots of the hills in the southern portion of the domain, Avissa is a treasure chest to the House that controls it. Its wealth has certainly been put to good use by House Filendus.
- Avissa: Town. Avissa is a pretty typical countryside township, with a couple of active guilds and a thriving marketplace. It is also the location of Nestor Keep, the Filendus seat.
- Silver & Iron Mines: Rich Mine + Smelter. The iron and silver mines of Avissa feed its smelters, producing ingots of fine iron, silver, and steel. There are many wrightfolk in Avissa, although no forgeholts.
Forces
- Veteran Garrison (7): Avissa
- House Ameth (20): Karmandy
Members of the House
Lord Caesmyr Filendus Head of House • 59 years As a boy, Caesmyr's bookish tendencies and quiet manner let others dismiss him easily. In the midst of young, boasting knights and nobles, he was a quiet, bespectacled wallflower, easy to forget. As he got older, however – particularly once he inherited the lordship of House Filendus – others quickly came to realize that while he'd been quiet, he'd also been watching. Though he works subtly, the whispers are very clear on the topc: Caesmyr Filendus deals in information and secrets. He is a keenly insightful judge of character, with his insight growing only sharper as he got older.
Lady Yndeva Filendus Consort • 53 years An absolute master of comportment and etiquette, Lady Yndeva has instructed at the Bower, where the Crownsmaids are taught their genteel arts. Though she doesn't hold the sort of social clout that some more influential noblewomen do, she is an acknowledged pinnacle of propriety. Ladies from across the Crowndom vie to get their daughters into Yndeva's household as handmaidens for a few years, both for the lessons in manner and the less-public skills in intrigue they inevitably pick up there. As a result, Yndeva has a number of surprising contacts among the young noblewomen of a great many houses.
Stalwart Dame Aumera Filendus Heir • 31 years Dame Aumera is a knight-cavalier of good standing with the Order of the Shield Crimson, an order of knights-cavalier with a somewhat sinister reputation. Though their brutality is legendary, they are careful to keep it just within the bounds of what is acceptable, although no one doubts that the bloodthirsty and grasping Shield Crimson knights will take every opportunity to make opponents on battlefield or tourney-grounds suffer. Aumera is everything her father was not: strong, passionate, and socially adroit, although her humor and charm are more of a soldier's than a noble lady's. At current, Aumera is unmarried and seems disinclined to ever become so.
Næuso Filendus Head's Secondborn Son • 29 years Charming in salons and arcadae in a way his sister never could be, Næuso is a notable politician, shaped as he was by his mother's acumen and connections, and his father's sharp perceptions and learning. Næuso has served in the court of the Warden of Three-Rivers, and currently acts as his father's steward.
Larian Filendus Head's Thirdborn Son • 23 years Larian was apprenticed to a magus early on, and once he reached his age of majority, he joined the prestigious Obelisk, a cabal of the Wise who specialize in Imperial history and warding magics. Larian has only recently returned from extended time at the Obelisk's sanctum in Crownhold, and has wasted no time protecting his House and family with his sorceries.
Hisperia Filendus Næuso's Consort • 30 years A landed knight's daughter, Hisperia and Næuso met while they were both at the court of Lord Artoran Kylervus, the Warden of Three-Rivers. Hisperia's smiling nature and fun-seeking spirit enchanted Næuso almost immediately, and the two have been inseparable since.
Marindon Filendus Næuso's Firstborn Son • 8 years xxx
Cavesta Filendus Næuso's Secondborn Daughter • 5 years xxx
Dowager Lady Galesta Caesmyr's Mother • 80 years The aged Lady Galesta is known to be feeble, and in the care of her daughter Maretta at Markond Estate, the dowager estate in Avissa.
Sir Obyntyr Filendus Caesmyr's Secondborn Brother • 54 years Although he once served in the court of the Warden of Three-Rivers, Sir Obyntyr was recently given a position in the Court of the Crown, and now serves as one of the royal knights in Crownhold, a position of distinction.
Maretta Filendus Caesmyr's Thirdborn Sister • 51 years Caesmyr's younger sister Maretta has always been quiet and meek, content to blend into the background. She loved her husband, Sir Risilus Kamardan quite dearly and did well as the lady of High Karmandy. Unfortunately, when her husband died of the flux, Caesmyr turned High Karmandy over to another knight, sending his sister to care for their mother at Markond Estate.
Kadetha Sorentian Maretta's Firstborn Daughter • 32 years Kadetha is a canny and well-educated woman, sponsored by her uncle Caesmyr to attend the Imperial College. She serves in Caesmyr's court, although she makes her residence in her husband's rich townhouse in Avissa.
Foræth Sorentian Kadetha's Consort • 38 years Foræth is a wealthy merchant from Avissa. He is a relative unknown in noble circles, although some jokingly call him "Caesmyr's Purse," a reference to the coin he is assumed to make available to House Filendus.
Aleta Sorentian Kadetha's Firstborn Daughter • 13 years A sweet girl, Aleta is a handmaiden to Lady Yndeva in Avissa, and can often be found taking care of Marindon and Cavesta.
Sir Marint Kamardan Maretta's Secondborn Son • 26 years A knight in the court of the Warden, Sir Marint was recently enrolled in the Academy of Courtly Arts in order to pursue mastery of his natural singing and musical talents as of Summer Court. He aims to acquire an invitation to an order of knight-sophistes. The handsome singer-cavalier has made quite the impression among the noble ladies of Taversil, and promises to do likewise in Crownhold. |
