Story One: Homecoming

Scene 1: White Harbor Docks

  • Ser Ryfe, Garwyn Blackhorn and the newly arrived Maester Tolbric meet the Titan's Daughter, a ship out of Braavos, looking for Ayrant Wisent and his manservant Carenzo Itaro.
  • As they stand on the docks catching up, Carenzo notices the approach of a small group of Braavosi bravos. They are led by Tyrenno Amastis, a noble Braavosi, who holds a grudge against Ayrant for some affair dealing with some person called the Midnight Diamond.
  • A fight breaks out, which is dealt with quite handily by Ayrant and Garwyn, with some assistance from Ser Ryfe and Maester Tolbric.
  • As the fight ends, the city guard, bearing the sigil of House Manderly arrive. Garwyn charms them handily, and they apologize for the threat to a noble-born visitor to the city. They take the bravos into custody and escort the Wisent contingent to the New Castle, home of House Manderly's Merman Court.
  • Reward: 4 XP, 2 Glory

Scene 2: Merman Court

  • The group is given a chance to clean (and stitch) up, and then brought to dinner with members of House Manderly: Lord Wyman Manderly (called Lord Lamprey, Ser Too-Fat-to-Sit-a-Horse and Lord Walrus), his son Ser Wylis and his grand-daughters Wynafryd and Wylla.
  • They discuss the events of the evening. It is very clear that Lord Wyman isn't pleased with their presence here, but he quickly takes a shine to Ser Garwyn.
  • The girls are very excited to have the renowned tourney-knight, whom everyone calls the Wolfswood Breakspear, present.
  • While Garwyn chats with his adoring fans, and Tolbric simply watches everything going on, Ayrant and Lord Wyman discuss the fate of the bravos. Ayrant would like to ransom Tyrenno Amastis back to his rich family, while Lord Wyman would like to send a very clear message to Braavos that their sort of eternal dueling and trouble-making won't be tolerated in White Harbor.
  • Ultimately, Ayrant accepts a purse of coin, and Lord Wyman promises that if he does end up ransoming Tyrenno, he will send a quarter of the ransom ahead.
  • Reward: 100 gold dragons

Scene 3: Riding the White Knife

  • The following day, Lord Wyman provides a fair-sized barge for their goods, to allow them to travel up the White Knife River quickly. They depart, and spend the day rowing up the slow-moving river, spending that night on the shore beside a fire.
  • The next day, around midday, they suddenly come under fire by bowmen from the shore. They appear to be a ragged group of seven or so men.
  • Maester Tolbric is hit by an arrow and drops to the bottom of the boat. Garwyn quickly takes an oar and begins rowing strongly, while Ser Ryfe returns fire with his crossbow. Ayrant finds his throwing knives don't have quite the range to reach the bandits, so he takes up an oar as well. Carenzo cowers in the bottom of the boat with the Maester.
  • They spot a tall tower flying the colors of House Waterman ahead, just around a bend. As they speed toward the tower, the bandits break off their pursuit.
  • The boat arrives at a docks, and once they are identified, they are quickly hustled into the Knifewatch, House Waterman's tower. Lady Merise Waterman is appalled to learn of the banditry on her lands, and that another House has been subject to attack. She immediately sends her son Ser Kronn, with a troop of riders, after the bandits.
  • In the meantime, she and an old servant woman help to clean and bind Maester Tolbric's injuries, after extending Guest Right to the Wisent party with bread, salt and wine.
  • In a few hours, Ser Kronn and his men return, with a few of the bandits in tow. A few got away, and others died in the altercation. Lady Merise has her son lock them into the stockade outside.
  • Rewards: 2 Experience

Scene 4: Waterman's Hospitality

  • After a meal, Lady Merise finds beds for everyone. She asks Ayrant to her solar to discuss what has happened.
  • There they discus Ayrant's time in Braavos, and a mutual seduction occurs between them.
  • The next morning, as they are preparing the barge for departure, Lady Merise indicates that she's decided to send the bandits downriver to White Harbor, to hand them over to Lord Manderly for incarceration in the Wolf's Den, the prison there.
  • Rewards: 2 Experience
