This is the domicile and workshop of one of Wisenwood's smiths, Cyril Coalman. He lives here with only two others: his apprentice, Ruven, who sleeps in a pallet beside the hearth, and his mule Snowflake, a pretty white-speckled gray mule that turns the crank to his forge bellows and sleeps in a small side room set up as her barn.

• Cyril Coalman: Smith. Cyril Coalman is a handsome, strong man of middle age. A widower, whose first wife died while she was still pregnant with their first child, Coalman hasn't taken another wife. Many of the local young ladies consider him a romantic, somewhat tragic figure, though he has rebuffed every attempt to interest him, politely. He does occasionally make trips out to Mother Lyvia's, once a month or so.
• Ruven: Apprentice. A precocious boy of twelve, Ruven has gained enough skill that he'll likely be made a journeyman soon. Likeable, if a little too sly for his own good, Ruven usually mans the market booth that Cyril commissions twice a week, leaving his master to continue to run the forge.
