Early childhood: Charlotte was born to Charles Ashcroft and Tiffany Meriwether(maiden name) Tiffany was in the running to be miss youth America after getting the title of miss youth Arizona. Charles is the director of Marketing for AT&T in Fort Worth. By the time Charlotte was born Tiffany was a stay at home mom and volunteered for a number of charities and church groups, as well as a coach and occasional judge for youth pageants. Charlotte was raised to be a pageant princess. Some time around 10 years old she stopped thanking god during her speeches and started talking about the various ism's. That made her less popular with the conservative Texas crowd. Around 12 she stopped the pageant circuits before that she had the education that went along with being a pageant contestant. Teen years: After stopping pageants her mom became busy with coaching and judging, and her dad was busy traveling all over and even when he was at home he worked 25 hour days it seemed. So a lot of the time she stayed with Linda Meriwether (Tiffany's sister) in Austin. In Austin was really the first time Charlotte attended public school. She made friends quickly but did poorly in school, it is not that it was difficult or that she didn’t understand, it was that it was too easy and bored her. It seemed that everything they threw at her was just too easy. However that is where she found shop class just about the same time she found art class. Building things was a reason to get better at other skills, drawing, math, physics. Aunt Linda was a part of the arts community in Austin. Linda sculpts and is an organizer and volunteer board member for a number of community projects and arts events. Charlotte to support aunt Linda started making jewelery in a steampunk fashion. She would do some modeling for other artists in the community and really enjoyed the steampunk clothiers, they would trade modeling for clothes. She made little electronic and magnetic marvels that people could wear. For the most part she wasn’t even going to school any more. She would instead head over to one of Linda's friends machining shops . She had a way with design and could feel when a tool was acting up. Soon after her parents got her report card with the worst grades she had ever gotten and very poor attendance. It being an era where bullying was a hot button issue Charlotte spun a story of how the boys at school wouldn't leave her alone, she is attractive and uninterested in the immature unrefined and frankly crude boys that she went to school with, so it was believable. So she made a bet with her dad she would apply her self and get a degree if after that he agreed to set her up a shop in Austin near Aunt Linda's. He agreed. The next day she got her permission slip and got her G.E.D at Austin Community college. After that she enrolled there and started studding hard. She put on music and studied between taking 30 credits a term of online classes and testing out of a lot of required classes she had a physics degree in 3 terms. Her dad threw her a party with his work friends to show off his 13 year old daughter with a associates degree in physics. True to the agreement her dad took out a mortgage for a warehouse complex and left money in Linda's care to fit it out as art units to be rented and managed by Linda. Now having all the space she could have wanted Charlotte really stretched out and started building functional technological art. The art studio was less a studio and more a laboratory. She began going by Faraday that summer and attending crafter's cons, and art shows, and steampunk cons and socials. At this point she spent most of her time in her shop and chatting online in makers forums. Her crafts started coming together quicker. She build devices that defied possibility then it changed, she was building a rail gun that would etch peoples names into a brass plate at 20 feet. Was working on it with out power and it fired. So she started testing and retesting and couldn't figure out what happened. One night she was out in the shop late. Something felt off. She turned the music down. A pair of men entered the shop. Next thing she is talking to police

Faraday: What happened? Officer: Miss that is what I have been asking you? Well a couple of guys, I think they might have been on drugs, came into my shop. I was kinda scared. Did they threaten you? I don't know. why is the corner pulling up? Officer: well something happened in your shop. What happened? Miss I am trying to figure that out. I am really sorry I am not any more help but that is all I remember. So I am guessing it was pretty traumatic.

The paper work finally settled on breaking and entering without proper protective gear. Some of the on scene reports claimed it looked like the shop it's self attacked. After the clean up effort was complete the shop got converted for SCIENCE. Faraday was convinced that she was going to figure out what happened. She determined that her abilities were magnetic. First she trained up her sensory ability she could feel things in a radius around her, and she could feel other people. Then little things at first drawing a tool across the bench, or recalibrating a tool from across the room. Then to work on accuracy. After a while she hung foil on the shop walk finding that she could write in it at nearly the speed of thought. Then folding and cutting metals. Learning to control her powers, building devices, and keeping up appearances took up the next few years. Linda was the only person she told. Linda became driven to find a place or other people who knew about this stuff and could help. Charlotte then at fifteen decided there is plenty wrong with the world built and ear bud police scanner and started to help out. Shortly after that Linda was contacted about starting the admissions process to the school.
