Guilds in Tamous
The Guilds operate with a great deal of leeway in a nation known for being as controlling as Tamous can be, and this is entirely due to a single rule that both Tamous and the Guilds adhere to, called the Prosperity Resolution: the Holy Throne grants the Guilds unprecedented power in exchange for insistence that those who hold such power in Tamous must be citizens of the empire.
Foreigners are not permitted to hold positions of power in the Guilds in Tamous; in this way, the Holy Throne hopes to put the allegiances of those in the upper tiers of the Guilds in Tamous more solidly in their pockets. And to some extent, this has worked: within the Guilds, it is known that Tamousan Guildsfolk often keep their allegiance to their homeland in mind when making their decisions.
Guild Towns
- Candorall: The main trading town between Tamous and the outside world, Candorall is something of a festival city. The Guilds often throw great celebrations and holidays here, inviting all of the Houses, for one purpose: to attract those with fat purses to their rich markets.
- Xorgarten: Xorgarten is a major caravan stop-off point, and a market town for much of the furs gathered in the forests south of the Imperial Road, and the wines that come up from the fields north of it. It is said that if Candorall is where the world's goods reach Tamous, then it is from Xorgarten that Tamous' goods reach the world.
