London Vagabond Cabals
The vagabond cabals are considered the poor under-class of the London Consilium. They are cabals that are aligned with neither the Caucus of an Order, nor with one of the Elder or vassal cabals. Vagabond cabals have a reputation as being made up of Apostates. This is true in perhaps half of their number, at most. The others are either members of an Order who don't have any dealings with the local Caucus, or are simply members of the Order on an individual, rather than cabal, basis.
Vagabond cabals have a few ways of integrating further into the London Consilium. A cabal of Apostates may join an Order, becoming a common cabal. Or, a multi-Order cabal may draw the notice of one of the Councilors, who then petition the Hierarch for the right to claim the cabal as a vassal cabal.
- The Cloachinae: Unknown. The Cloachinae are something of a myth among the magi of London. According to this urban legend, there are tribes of people who live beneath the streets of London. Fetid and feared by the homeless, these tribes are ruthless thieves and even rumored to engage in cannibalism. Some of the mages of London claim to have met one or two Awakened among these tribes. According to one tale from the early 1800s, the Awakened Cloachinus served some kind of horrific spirit.
- The Corbies: Apostate • Throughout the City, East End and South London. Haunting the tall buildings of Central, Southern and Eastern London are the Corbies, a cabal of Apostate magi fascinated with the ravens, crows and other corvids that are in ample evidence in London. They claim to have tapped into the "old black-feather magics." There is always at least one of the Corbies near the Tower of London. The others can generally be found in the roof-towns made by the poor and homeless, who they are the patrons of. They all wear shiny trinkets, black eye makeup and some kind of clothing made up of black feathers.
- The Houndsditch Masters: Apostate • The Square Mile, the City. The Jews of Houndsditch have, for as long as any of the Awakened can remember, hosted several Awakened among their number. These men, who do not believe in tales of sunken cities and the like, follow Kabbalistic magical techniques. The Houndsditch Masters dwell in individual homes in Central London's Jewish district around Houndsditch.
- The Ditch Witches of Bermondsey (Apostate; Vagabond): Apostate • Bermondsey, South London. A pair of old hags and their young niece who help out the folk of Bermondsey where they can, healing sickness and blessing babies. All three are Apostates and have no time for nonsense about Atlantis. The Ditch Witches live in a small, ramshackle house in the middle of Bermondsey, with a small stream running through the property.
