Great Houses of Liminal

The seven Great Houses of Liminal are a collection of some of the most powerful noble houses in the known mortal world around Liminal. At least two of them are royal houses, the blood of kings in nations around Liminal. These Great Houses vie for the three seats on the Accord. There are, of course, other nobles represented in Liminal, but they do not have the power and influence that these have. They are:

House Bloodwing

The House of Drakes
A house of dragonborn, established as a noble house by the influence of the House's hidden draconic patrons.

  • Estates in Liminal: Ioqaris Hall (primary estate, Noble Quintan); X

House Caelmont

Exile House of Almanni
A noble house in exile from a the kingdom of Almanni, the Caelmonts are considered traitors by their nation of origin. The Caelmonts are known for their charming pragmatism and love of gambling.

  • Estates in Liminal: Sweet Haven (primary estate, Noble Quintan); Sunglass Gardens (Market Quintan), Sweet Heather House (Traveler's Quintan)

House Desiram

Old House of Liminal
A house of local nobility, the human and half-elven Desiram are at least as old as Liminal itself - indeed, older, for they were the local lords before the First Imbrication. They still own most of the lands for many days' ride around Liminal. They have a reputation as schemers who'd like nothing more than to gain full mastery of Liminal once more.

  • Estates in Liminal: The First House (primary estate, Noble Quintan); Marigold House (Market Quintan); Cormorant House (Fest Quintan)

House Naiall

Barbarian Noblility
The youngest of the noble houses in Liminal, the Naiall were once simply a ruling clan of Badlands nomads. Once it became clear that Liminal's decisions might affect their lives, and that they stood no chance of destroying the city, the elders of the nomads gathered the resources of the tribe and bade them journey to Liminal. These so-called "barbarian princes" may only take wives from the tribes, and consider the good of their people first and foremost...or at least, they are supposed to.

  • Estates in Liminal: Chieftain's Hall (primary estate, Noble Quintan); Elk Hall (Workman's Quintan)

House Redmoon

Noble House of the Delann Elves
A house of elven nobles from the nearby Delannwood, the Redmoon elves rarely get along with the fey representatives of Arilan Atrin. They are given to feuds and their mastery of primal magics gives even the wizards of the Keepers pause.

  • Estates in Liminal: Eclipse Towers (primary estate, Noble Quintan); X

House Taldiress

Imperial House of the Nine
Another royal house, this time of the great Empire of the Nine to the northeast of Liminal. The Taldiress kings are notorious sorcerer-kings, whose bloodlines are rich with magic. Even those who are not born with the gift are said to be taught to make pacts with terrible entities to help ensure the sorcerous primacy of the Taldiress in the Empire.

  • Estates in Liminal: The Lonely Tower (primary estate, Noble Quintan); X

House Ylrannin

Royal House of Tamous
The royal house of the nation Tamous, to the south of Liminal. Humans, known for their military might and prickly about their honor.

  • Estates in Liminal: Hawkhold (primary estate, Noble Quintan); X

The Lesser Houses

The lesser Houses of Liminal don't wield quite the power of the Great Houses, or are simply cadet branches of one of the Great Houses.

  • House Keviam: A house of merchant-princes, the Keviams come from a line of particularly successful Guildsfolk. While the son of the House's founder did not join the Merchant Guilds himself, he did use his father's wealth to make a series of devastatingly fortuitous investments, dramatically increasing his family's power. In the span of a few generations, the Keviams were easily the richest among the Houses of Liminal, including the Great Houses. They've never sought overt political power, however, and so remain one of the Lesser Houses. (Estates: Arncook Manor, Market Quintan; Silkenhome, Noble Quintan)
  • House Elohash: Sworn enemies of the Caelmont, the Elohash are a noble family out of Almanni. Their mission in Liminal is quite simple: they maintain ambassadorial interactions with the myriad temples of Empyros, and close connection with the Empyrean Court on behalf of their theocratic nation. Young, religiously fervent Elohash scions and servants have been caught brawling in the streets with the heretics of House Caelmont more than once. (Estates: Elmbough Estate, Noble Quintan)
  • House Ycauloth: X
  • House Crendawin: A Litoran House, the Crenadwin are known as bronze-skinned beauties. There are rumors that they are involved in the demonology and piracy that all Litorans are accused of, though the signs of arcane knowledge within their House do lend some credence to the rumors.
  • House Ethalisa: X
  • House Gwiseth: X
  • House Ibunnon: An off-shoot of the Desiram, the Ibunnon also consider themselves "native nobility" to Liminal. They are a house full of schemers and intriguers, who are dangerous in their knowledge of the many factions among the various planar cities that Liminal touches. (Estates: Filan's Door, Noble Quintan)
  • House Breladan: The Breladan are a wide-ranging noble House of ancient lineage. They have off-shoots of their family in Tamous and several of the River Kingdoms. The small Liminali branch of the House - referred to as "the elder lineage" - actually acts as leaders and mediators for the other branches of the House. They have a reputation as fine mediators and ambassadors.
  • House Viralind: X
  • House Dumnei: A noble house from the small island nation of Delvion, the Dumnei are a house of some power in their homeland. They seem anxious to explore the continent's potential, and unlike their countrymen, they are interested in more than just those areas reachable by the nation's fleets. The Dumnei scions are prickly about their honor, but gracious to their friends. (Estates: Old Dayritch Estate, Noble Quintan)
