Members of the Family

  • Eckart Hedare: Patriarch (Rank 3) • 55 years. A perpetually scowling, oft-distracted man with an impressive set of mustachios, Eckart leaves most the running of House Hedare as a social entity to his consort. Eckart's main concern is now and always has been the familial business, and he seems to have little time or interest for anything beyond those things.
  • Aowena Hedare: Consort (Rank 2) • 52 years. Aowena is very clear on one thing: there are Things That Are Done and Things That Are Not Done, and gods help anyone in her purview who crosses that line. Though she comes across as excessively (even neurotically) prim and proper, the reality is that she knows how other Houses see the Hedares: jack-come-lately brightcoin nobility, more glim than blue-blood. Her class and propriety are a shield against such tasteless opinions, and by not just upholding such virtues herself but insisting it of everyone she surrounds herself with, she can dodge such observations as tactless and beneath noble contempt.
  • Saevros Hedare: Heir (Rank 2) • 30 years. Saevros grew up in the company of other nobles who were quick to ape their parents' disdain of the "newcoin" Hedares and Houses like them. Unlike Eckart, Saevros took those snubs quite personally, such that he instead turned to socializing almost exclusively with those new Houses – particularly those established by Dagult Neverember. Today, Saevros still keeps this company, a simple preference that comes of childhood bullying, but as an adult noble, his choices sometimes create the impression of a young noble still loyal to Neverember, and that is a dangerous appearance to have in today's Waterdeep.
  • Siamorphe Hedare: Secondborn daughter (Rank 1) • 26 years. Sweet where her older brother is bitter, and eternally patient with her mother's fussing, Siamorphe (or just "Sia" to those around her) is a genuine delight to be around. She finds entertaining traits that others deem annoying, and has a well of quick-humored compassion that has made her genuinely well-liked in noble society. Indeed, the only folk who seem to dislike her are those who find her good nature grating or disingenuous. In particular, Sia gets along greatly with her cousin Tennora. Sia is currently entertaining multiple offers of marriage, although she seems unsure whether she wants a union that would have her leave her House or not.
  • Jynna Hedare: Thirdborn daughter (Rank 1) • 22 years. Young and rambunctious, Jynna is involved with a clique of young noblewomen called Furies, who love nothing more than to venture out to the wilder festhalls of the Dock and South Wards. In no way do these young women come ready to defend themselves, but find the danger intoxicating all the same. Even Sia seems worried.
  • Ardrel Hedare: Fourthborn son (Rank 1) • 19 years. Very much like his father, Ardrel is involved in the family business. But he is also an amateur scholar with an interest in the cultural backgrounds of the various curios and exotica his House trades in. The House's factors know that when they find something unusual, Andrel will reward them for bringing back as much information as they can about their findings – and that when Andrel is delighted with something, even hoary old Eckart is inclined to regard them favorably for their efforts.
Tennora-hedare.jpg
Tennora Hedare
Patriarch's niece (Rank 0) • 29 years
The daughter of Lord Eckart's younger brother Mesial and his wife Liferna (an Uskevren whose family left Sembia), Tennora has long been raised close to the patriarch's family as one of them. Unfortunately, this means she has always been something of a frustration to Lady Aowena, as Tennora isn't terribly concerned with the things her aunt seems to think a young noblewoman ought to be. Tennora has studied a variety of disciplines, including a short stint of (failed) wizardry at the Watchful Order under Master Rhinzen Halnian. Today, Tennora is a bit of a black sheep: she lives on the fourth floor apartment of the God Catcher, and works as a tutor.

Perks

Scions and agents of House Hedare in good standing might receive the following benefits:

  • Living Quarters: Renown 1+. Those in good standing with the House are given quarters within the House's Waterdhavian villa appropriate to their role in the House.
  • Living Expenses/Salaries: Renown 1+. Those in good standing with the House also receive a stipend of 1gp plus 5sp per day per point of Rank. This is not actual cash, but simply familial credit towards payment of Lifestyle costs. This stacks with the same kind of familial credit received from the Waterdhavian Noble Background (see Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide).
  • Business Opportunities: Renown 3+. Lynchpins to the House's operations receive access to a variety of business opportunities within the House's money-making endeavors. This is handled as "Running a Business" in downtime months. This does not incur a business expense, but if too many of the character rolls results that end in a loss of money, he can and will find his Rank in the House reduced.
  • Heir or Consort (Title): Renown 3+. The holder of one of the legal titles Heir of House and Consort of House, as recorded with the city of Waterdeep, is entitled to an additional 2gp per day in familial credit, per the "Living Expenses/Salaries" entry above. The heir is also accorded certain privileges within the legal system of Waterdeep, including the ability to speak on behalf of his House in some legal proceedings and the like.
  • Wealth of the House: Renown 10. The patriarch of the House is in total control of the House's finances and various holdings, established by the laws of Waterdeep.
