Other Mechanics None
  • First planet in the system, a very short distance from the sun of the Lythos system.
  • Entire planet is property of the Coridann Mining Consortium, one of the minor seat-holders in the Corporate Sector Authority.
  • The planet has no atmosphere, requiring breathing masks for the entire planet's surface, and radiation-shielding for the solar side.
  • Tidal locked, with one face always facing the sun, and another face always facing away from it.
    • The sun-facing side is so close to the sun's direct radiance, unmitigated by any atmosphere, that it remains largely molten.
    • The dark-facing side has hardened into a crust with the sorts of rare mineral deposits expected from volcanic calcification.
    • The tectonic plating of the planet is constantly shifting, with plates drifting out of the solar side and "drifting" across the dark side in cycles of about 300 years. The original mining operations built on the planet have just started to reach the solar side.

Mining Operations

  • The only constructions on the planet's face are fifteen blocky ferrocrete-and-metal mining outposts. They are notoriously surrounded by hazy clouds of fine particulates for a half-kilometer radius around each of the outposts, the ejecta of each mining outpost's industrial harvesting process.
  • Each mining outpost houses about a thousand workers, in six weeks shifts of five weeks of work (approximately ten hours a day) to one week of leave on Coridann Station.

Coridann Station

Coridann Station, aka "The Furnace"
  • An orbital station composed of five levels of "rings" around a central empty well, and four "towers" that cut through the layer of rings, jutting above and below them.
  • Also called "The Furnace," as it's high orbit absorbs some of the planet's sun-side radiation, and the mechanisms that cool the structure are notoriously unreliable.
  • Each ring has multiple shops, services, and entertainment venues, all of which contribute to the leaching of worker credits back to the company's coffers.
    • The rings also house the main corporate offices of the Cordiann Consortium, as well as its security offices.
  • The towers offer hangar space where they connect to the rings. Above and below the rings, the towers offer approximately ten levels of bunk-space for off-duty workers.
